That's an unreasonably high return. There's basis here... but I can't see it being realistic, either the blues retaining or the panthers paying twice as much as what other teams would pay despite them having the cap room.

The OTT trade is also woefully onesided towards Ottawa. Stralman for Zaitsev could be a half decent 1 for 1... Florida should not be paying OTT to take that package.

I'm not familiar with the prospect going to the Sabres so I won't comment on it.


Biggest issue here is I don't think this is an improved version of the Panthers. Dillon signing on D is about the largest improvement. Hoffman and especially Dadanov would require more to extend here too, so with their adjusted contracts this team is really in the hole.

I actually like most of these. A stralman for z would be better. So we can keep Connelly. Not sure I see buffalo accepting that though. Maybe borgstrom and a third for middlestad would work though. And dadonov and Hoffman probably get more. I could see them taking a bit less to stay on Florida since he no state income tax works in favor of them. But I’m on board.
