Description
This was just a fun little game to get to know other teams rosters a little better. I'm well aware that some of these roster moves suck but please feel free to tear it apart in the comments section anyways.

Hawks will take graves for Murphy.
Calgary trade seems to be the worst of these trades. Colorado would have to add to that one

A trade between my 2 favourite teams. The value in the Oilers trade is definitely there but the Oilers couldn’t take on that much cap without sending more back.

Initially I had it as Kadri + Zadorov + 2nd for Monahan. Is that a fair trade?

How about including Athanasiou and Avs add a 2nd and prospect (eg. Ranta)?

No thanks, that's a huge overpay.

Kadri is pacing 58 points this season (36 points in 51 games).
Monahan is pacing 56 points (48 points in 70 games).

Monahan gets to play on the 1st line whereas Kadri plays on the 2nd line which probably bumps Monahan's production a bit (as he plays with Gaudreau and Lindholm rather than Burakovsky and Donskoi).

Monahan probably has the higher upside offensively but Kadri is better defensively.

Kadri also costs $1.9m less, albeit with 1 year shorter term (3 vs 2).

Clearly the difference between the two is not Byram + 1st, that's just ridiculous.

Value is probably right but obviously calgary would never do that. I don't think kadri will ever get what he's actually worth in a trade because of the way he plays. You can't count on him, especially in the playoffs.

That NSH trade is awful. No chance NSH would ever accept that. Forsberg > Burakovsky and Bonino > Donskoi

Term matters.

Bonino is an UFA in 1 year and Forsberg in 2 years.

Burakovsky is an RFA and cost-controlled for however long his next contract is (4-5 years?), and Donskoi another 3 years.

It does not matter when you're trading for a teams top offensive player... Sign Forsberg long term and trade Bonino if you want to or not - still better than this package.

As a Canucks fan and an avid Kamenev fan, I 100% approve of that trade. Maybe more of a 4th would fit better though.

Why the Avs would want to trade Pavel Francouz for Jake Allen?

Both Monahan (he's not worth Byram+ but he's worth more than Kadri and Zadorov) and Forsberg trade are bad for Flames and Preds respectively.

[EDIT] I don't think neither the Kings and Avs are going to give up on Fagemo and Kaut respectively that early.

The thing with that Preds trade is Burakovsky is on his 1st good year wheras Filip Forsberg has been able to put 50-65pts every years on a defensive-minded team. Consistency is what outweights the contracts value.

It would be the same as if the Habs or the Canucks were to ask for premium assets for Max Domi or JT Miller just because they were coming off one 70pts season. (JT Miller and Domi could still have another 70pts season but they arent worth as much as a consistent 70pts player right now)

Oilers wouldn’t include Athanasiou for that return as we just traded 2 seconds for him. With the expansion draft coming up if we traded Larsson it would probably have to be for prospects that don’t need to be protected. How about Larsson and Puljujarvi for Timmons and Jost?

Definitely not trading Timmins for a rental.

Overall when making the trades in this AGM I didn't factor in the ED, nor did I consider long-term contract situations much.

I was running low on draft picks and had tonnes of capspace when looking at St Louis, so I figured I could afford the extra cap to pick up a couple of picks. In hindsight that probably wasn't the greatest trade to make.

I agree about LA Kings. I'd rather keep Kaut, but I was kinda running out of viable players to trade at the end there and LAK don't really have many good roster players, so I settled for trading Kaut for a comparable prospect and Iafallo.

I agree about the Preds trade. My logic was the difference in term, but I think there's been some good points made by you and others in this thread to correct me. I first started off just looking at Bonino as 3C but decided to include Burakovsky. Maybe if I swapped Forsberg for Arvidsson the trade would be fairer.

I figured with that trade that Canucks have poor forward depth so a guy like Kamenev would be able to get an opportunity with you. In isolation a 4th is probably right, but I think including a 6th going with Kamenev bumps the return up to a 3rd maybe. Glad you like the trade.
