You better hope Bob finds his game or you'll be going 3 games far in these playoffs, although getting the Islanders is the best first round matchup.

they are going up against the team with amazing defense, good offense, and 2 good playoff goalies so I dont even think it will be close. Last time the panthers made it to the playoffs they got smacked by the islanders. Still anything could happen but from how the team's goaltending and defense is I dont see them going far.

I wouldn't say they got smacked in 2016. They pushed it to 6 and likely 7 if it wasn't for the refs.

True but now the islanders are a defensive powerhouse as trotz has literally made their pk go from bottom 10 to top 5. Sure there offense could use some work but with the depth they have and the panthers struggling to keep pucks out of there net anything could happen.

The reason why the islanders don’t score as much is because of their system. All of their forwards play so low in the defensive zone and they are not allowed to leave the zone until the puck does, which allows the opposing team D to reset. I don’t think the isles will have a problem beating Florida, but if trotz doesn’t adjust his system , it’s unlikely they’ll make it past the 2nd round

For sure, trotz is a great X’s and O’s coach. A lot of caps fans say that backstrom injury and Wilson’s suspension is a big reason why they won a cup because it forced trotz to play vrana in the top 6, but trotz in game adjustments were great during the cup run as well.

Trotz has only made it past the 2nd round once in his career, and you can argue that one reason is because he has a problem trusting young players - great coach, questionable roster decisions.

For example , Noah Dobson has been one of the isles best defenseman this season. You wouldn’t be able to tell by looking at hockeydb but he’s among the best in every offensive and defensive category, but trotz will play Johnny boychuk (arguably the worst defenseman in the league) over Dobson just because of his age and experience

Yeah their record wasn’t great, but the underlying numbers were trending in a positive direction the last 7 games before everything was cancelled. Isles will get cizikas back , which is a plus.

They might get a boost but ever since they opened 13-0 or whatever they did they’ve been playing .500 hockey, including losing the last 7. On the bright side, quarantine might have given some buffer to figure things out...

I've seen him post about the isles multiple times - when they win, its luck. When they go on a losing streak, that's the way its supposed to be.

It's not a surprise considering the rivalry since JT left for Toronto

It really depends on the roster trotz decides to go with. The isles have the personnel to be a great team, but coaching can hold them back.

They are below average in possession, and almost all offensive categories and get above average goaltending in high danger chances. Or at least were, apart from their 10 game winning streak they been treading water. They lack the guns to compete with most teams.

they are below average in possession because that's what trotz system is all about. Trotz teams are never great possession teams because he does not care if the opposing team spends a lot of time in our zone as long as the shots are kept to the outside. They are ranked 22nd offensively because of their system, not the personnel. I'm sure you won't agree with that, but its more because you don't want to believe it because it won't fit the narrative. The only thing this team lacks is elite wingers.

They lack a lot more than that. They are a team almost devoid of high end skill. It's a sum of it parts mentality which is good sure but come playoff time you just don't have the guys who can take over games apart from Barzal. That will cost you.

Both Devon Toews and Ryan Pulock are elite defenseman and were both better than any defenseman on TML this season. Thats not my opinion, it's a fact. Noah Dobson will be a an elite defenseman in this league sooner than later.

Brock nelson was better than barzal the past two seasons so not sure what you're talking about.

Toronto currently does not have a starting caliber goaltender. Freddy Andersen was a below replacement level goaltender this season.

Soon to be 32 year old Jake Muzzin is by far your best defenseman. The leafs have a great offensive core, but your defense is below average. Team defense is non existent.

And here comes the bitterness. I can't wait for the videos of Islander adult fans crying about JT leaving after you go no where over the next few seasons before your 30+ year big contract depth players fall off and the franchise goes into the dumps.

Bitterness or facts? Facts don't care about your feelings -the difference between me and you is I can back up my statements, you just post nonsense because you hate the islanders and their fans.

Yeah the facts like the Leafs don't have a goalie......how many wins did Andersen have this season? 4th most in the NHL, how's your argument coming? It's seems about as fragile as your emotions. Just small man syndrome here. Good luck, and remember Karma is a ****. This is what you get when you act like a giant baby.

Andersen ranked 26th out of 31 starting goaltenders in goals saved above expected this season. Wins aren't a great stat to evaluate a goaltender.

There are plenty of leafs fans that can engage in a rational conversation on this site, you're not one of them. You take things too personal.
