Toronto says no. No reason to trade our 23 yr old 2D unless it is involved in a deal that brings back something better.

We could go Dermott + 3rd for Georgiyev though?

Georgiev trade looks right. Don't think a pick gets added to Puljujarvi and that's too much for Dermott.

Also, your Strome contract is ooof. As is Howden at 3C and your UFA targets.

So basically you get points for the Georgiev trade and everything else you've done is pretty rough.

It's not that the value isn't there for Toronto it just doesn't fit their needs. Could see it worked into a Georgiyev deal:

Dermott + 3rd for Georgiyev + CBO on Marc Staal?

He fits our needs. We won't be able to sign Anderson next offseason and Geo has been super solid so far. Also still young and can be resigned for sub 3m

Yes, but would still rather take Georgiyev

Would you make the Dermott + 3rd deal?

I’d give a 3rd and a C prospect for Dermott at most. Guy hasn’t proved much to me. I think he’s a top 4 guy at most.

Detroit passes. One of Detroit's best prospects, The first pick of the 2nd round in this years draft and another 2nd. That's quite a bit more than Detroit could give up.

Georgiev isn't needed. Campbell is better and could be the stop gap between one of Woll or Scott eventually taking over. Dermott is way more usefull than a backup who's career GAA is 3+ and his SV% is .910

Do Rangers fans actually believe that their backup is worth that much? He doesn't really have the stats to backup this value.

You don't know that. Andersen may be willing to go shorter term, its going to be a weird goalie market in the near future and going big long term with 30+ year old goalies isn't wise. Just look at Montreal and Florida.

The problem is even if he extends his current deal, say 5m x 4 yrs it still will age poorly. There are so many great examples of goalies peaking as they get into their UFA's years, then falling off a cliff. George is 24 and Campbell is 27, combined they would cost less then Andy does now, this year both of them posted a higher SV% then Anderson, and they could be good for 5+ yrs for us. Just my thoughts though.

Scott was out the entire year and has yet to play a pro game, while Woll was sub .885 in the AHL. Georgiyev is only 2 years older and was already in the show at their age. I'll be honest I doubt either of them will make it to the NHL.

But George hasn't been good or consistent. His GAA is 3+ over his career, in what way does that scream he's a starter? It doesn't, he just got immense media attention when Dreger said the Rangers were asking for Kapanen plus, it was ridiculous then and is moving forward. Campbell and Andersen are the goalies next season, that's it. The year after will be interesting but with this virus causing so much instability, a 33 year old FA goalie is going to have a hard time justifying a huge contract.

Depends on if you're going by more accurate goalie stats that actually account for shot quality or not. He played behind essentially the worst defense in the league the last 2 seasons, so if you're just going by Sv% or GAA you're not getting the full picture.

He's 9th among all goalies in the league in Goals Saved Above Expected over the last 2 seasons.

Only guys in front of him are Halak, Binnington, Hellebuyck, Kuemper, Gibson, Bishop, Khudobin and Lehner.

Considering he's 2 years younger than the youngest guy on their, cheaper than any of the rest and has more team control than any of the rest, that just increases his value.

His comps in terms of play relative to age are Andersen, Grubbauer, and Schneider. All of whom got at least 1sts or equivalent value.

Georgiyev has allowed on average 3 goals a game in the show. That isn't much better than Hutchinson.

You can keep him then. I have no interest in paying a premium price for a backup with his poor stats.

No, but he's a career .915%. You get 3 GAA when you're a bad team that lets a ton of shots on net. Please stop using that statistic it is meaningless. It's about as good of a statistic as Wins.

You are correct in 34 games his GAA was 3.04 but I also don't think that tells the entire story. Expecting to get that much in return for Georgiev isn't very realistic and it not just his stats and play there are other factors. Take a look at the goalies in this years UFA class there are several really good goalies there. The Rangers aren't the only team trying to move a young goalie. Pittsburgh could move Jarry or Murray both are only 25 and I've seen both of them in a lot of proposals done by Pittsburgh fans. Then there is Vancouver who has been Demko is in a lot of proposals done by Vancouver fans. There will be a lot of options for teams looking for a goalie.
