kapanen is far less valuable than leafs fans will admit to. I'd say Andersson is worth slightly less than Nylander, but that would be what starts trade talks here.

Not enough for Andersson. Also to retain you click on the little plus sign to the right of the players name after you've added them to the trade. You then enter the amount (as in number, not percentage) that you want to be retained.

Sounds like a matter of opinion and a lack of knowledge on who Rasmus Andersson is. Hes a lot closer to Nylander then he is to Kapanen, especially retained on an already sweetheart contract

But where's the incentive for Calgary to move Andersson in the trade proposed here? What's harder to find a 23 yo competent 2-way RHD or a 23 yo 50ish pt RW?

Calgary is in way worse shape then the Leafs at RHD if they make this move, so in order to get Calgary interested, Nylander would have to be a part of this trade.

Considering I'm a big Nylander fan, I'd prefer Leafs go with what they have or explore cheaper options for RHD.

Teams rarely retain on fair value contracts that have term left, I can't think of one actually, maybe a two year remaining at the TDL it's happened but I really can't think of any others so that can be ruled out altogether imo.

Kapanen alone doesn't get Andersson, the Flames would have zero interest in trading him without an overpay and Kapanen alone isn't an overpay.

Thats actually your jump to conclusion. For any conversation to happen arounder Andersson, Dubas has to start by saying Nylander. Then balance it from there with like Liljegren, Dube and Flames 2020 2nd or something
