That D Core, as you have it laid out here isn't good enough. The left side is great. The right side is well below average.

I agree that the handedness of the player isn't as important to me as it is the quality of the defensman. I'll take six Left Shot Defensman that can play a complete game over this mess any day of the week.

Pateryn is probably acquirable. His cap hit is $2.25M so not that much more than you signed Ceci for, and he's good in his own zone in a 3rd pairing role. I'd imagine the Leafs want someone more suited for the top 4 though

I'd take either of them over Demelo when he'll cost at least $3.5M as a UFA, which would end up costing the Leafs another roster player.

Demelo is a decent stay-at-home dman, not significantly better than Holl.

Dermott easily has the highest ceiling of the 3 of them.

Colorado isn't giving up all of that for nylander. Take out either timmons or kaut and take out the 2020 1st.

Literally just go to Carolina as they have a rookie defenseman who is NHL ready (McKeown). He wont be that expensive to get and he has developed well with the checkers. Put him on the third pairing and see how he does. Reason he comes carolina's defensive depth is massive and they have other prospects who are also NHL ready
