Matthews for a top pair RHD who’s under 26 with term and a replacement top 6 center again under 26 with term. He’s a top 20 player in the league, top 10 offensive player in the league and arguably the second best sniper in the league. I don’t think you can quantify a return that Toronto doesn’t lose when trading Matthews.
That same can be said for Eichel, McDavid, Crosby, Ovechkin and Pettersson just to name a few examples.
