Detroit trade is pretty comparable to the AA trade the two teams just made

Except AA did put up 30 goals in a season that was probably a one time thing but he was in the NHL long enough do that. AA is in his 4th full season in the NHL and JP doesn't even have one.

Yeah, and the Oilers gave up two seconds as a rental. Detroit is getting a signed Jesse for a second. If Jesse becomes a twenty goal scorer for them in his first year then it becomes two.

AA wasn't a rental because he is an RFA. A rental is a player that can leave when his contract is up.

I wish they were comparable. If the AA trade had the clause in it the Oilers would only be losing one 2nd instead of two.
Didn’t like the trade when it was made and so far it looks like it was a bad trade for Edmonton.
I’d trade AA this summer if I was the Oilers.

I'm still not convinced that this season is going to be his norm. A couple of weeks into the season and every expecting him to produce he started second guessing himself by passing when he should be shooting and vice versa. This pause in the season could be a blessing in disguise and might be what he needs to get his head right. Plus the coaching staff probably has him watching tape learning the system inside and out. I really liked AA when he was in Detroit and just because he is an Oiler now doesn't change a damn thing. I still think he can put up 20+ goals a season. Look at Tatar Detroit traded him to Vegas and barely played he gets trade to Montreal has time to adjust and he is back to putting up 20+ goals a season.
