How hilarious would it be to see NSH trade twice for Hartman?

What makes you say that? He was solid on the 4th line for us. Yeah he makes dumb penalties every few games but he has some skill, he can score, and lays big hits to shut down plays.

I know Foligno got that just as good. No need for a load of them and with Mayhew and Shaw he is gone.

That's fine if you feel that way but to say to trade him anywhere for anything is silly. He has value. Probably not a lot of value (A late 3rd maybe if we're lucky), but value nonetheless. Mayhew belongs in a top 9 role and Shaw has had way too many injuries to be deserving of NHL minutes. He needs more development in the AHL before we give him a crack in the NHL.

Honestly I like Hartman's game off the 4th line. Agrre with @TanSor here. The issue isn't the player but the contract. I had Hartman pegged at about $1 million per last year. The fact Fenton (apologies to all Wild fans for naming he that shall not be mentioned by name) signed him for double that has fans thining he is more than what he is. Bad contract doesn't mean bad player.

PS..... He was far more effective than Rask. Just sayin'

Honestly I don't hold that much I'll will towards Fenton's hockey moves. His issues were more behind the scenes by belittling his staff. I was excited when we got Fiala, but he definitely should (and probably could) have gotten a little extra in that trade. The jury is still out on Donato IMO, he scored 14 goals averaging ten and a half minutes per game this season. Rask deal was bad obviously. He drafted Khovanov and Beckman who both look like steals, not to mention Boldy was on fire scoring something like 17 points in his last 10 games. Fenton did a lot of good (and a little bad) for the on ice product, but he truly was horrible to his staff.

Mayhew played in the NHL on the 1st line with good linemates and power play time and looked lost and timid, he's a farcry from a replacement for Hartman. Shaw has zero NHL games and a bad injury history, so not exactly a threat to Hartman's ice time. If anything, Sturm is the guy to be the 4C next season but since Hartman isn't a center, that's not exactly threatening his roster spot.

I'm with @TanSor Hartman might be overpaid, but he was effective in his role and they're not hurting for cap space so he's fine. Trading him for a 6th just makes the team worse.

Fenton has an eye for talent and you're right he helped restock the prospect pool. He wasn't as good at trading sadly, but I'll take Fiala if he's for real over all the players they gave up.

Neither Mayhew or Shaw belong anywhere near the NHL. Hartman is an ideal 4th liner: PKs, chips in some points, and plays physical.

He only really blew the Nino/Rask trade. The rest of his trades were at least decent.

The Coyle/Donato trade gets more criticism than it deserves. Coyle never did anything here and was always invisible when the team needed him, Donato might still be something so I'll call that an even trade at worst. Hopefully Cade Webber turns into something. smile

Edit: Oops, just realized they traded the 4th that came with Donato to Carolina, so Webber is a Carolina prospect. The good news is that pick was used in the deal to get the 2nd they drafted Hunter Jones with, so maybe that Coyle trade will look better if Jones becomes a good goalie.
