Yeah Detroit's not giving up a 6th and 7th round pick for a freaking aging goalie we don't need. When we've tons of cap space and plenty UFA goalies we can sign.

Ristolinen in general has not panned out well and if Dubas were to trade Kapenan for him Buffalo would have to retain a good amount of salary. In general I just dont see Ristolinen being a target of the leafs as he has a bad history with most of them which is bad for team dynamics and cooperation.

Kapanen was drafted one year later than ristolainen and has 137 less points despite playing forward. Who didnt pan out?

Ristolainen has a horrible reputation with good reason but an overhyped reason. It will be interesting to see him entering his prime years as one of the most over worked young players in the game.

But Kapanen is a much better defenseman than Ristolainen. Well, he couldn't be worse.

Seriously. Assuming Toronto and NJ pass on these trades. Do you protect Ristolainen next year?? Jokiharju and Dahlin are slamdunks. Do you protect 8 skaters and leave Mittelstadt and the young DMen exposed??
