He's a player with speed who can defend and is 20 goal 40 point man on average. Pulli is 1st round bust who wants to be traded. Argue the extra but all leaf players aren't worthless.

Why do you think Dermott who has played more NHL games gets less money than Mikheyev?

No way Dermott signs so low. Also the team is worse than last year. Offense downgraded and Gauthier is overpaid.

That's a ridiculous trade. Holland would never go for that. Try moving the 2nd over to Edmonton's side for starters.

EDM has no interest in taking back salary on Puljujarvi. They gave up two 2nd rd picks for Athanasiou which means the plan was to sign him - which makes your trade even LESS likely.

I'd say a better trade is Kerfoot for JP+4th+5th.

Kerfoot= 2 3rds, seems legit

For this upcoming year, Johnsson will not get you one of those pieces, never mind both. Johnsson is not a 20 goal scorer on average, he has only played in the league 2 years, first year he got exactly 20, and last year was on pace for about 14 goals, including empty net goals. He is undersized, and cannot drive offense himself, he needs elite talent to excel. This year he played on a 3rd line with other 3rd liners and showed he is nothing special. On top of that, he is coming off a major injury. With the upcoming season in the NHL likely being a flat cap, he is certainly not a reasonable price for the role he is in, he is overpaid. I do agree he is the most likely the player to move so the team can become cap compliant (i.e. that makes him a cap dump). Other teams know that, and most other teams cannot afford to take on a 3rd line winger with that cap hit. He is not worthless, but he is not worth very much for the upcoming year based on all these factors. You are likely looking at a 2021 4th or 5th round pick if you want to trade him this year.

That may be partially true, but teams like SJS have offered a lot more: Sorenson, 3rd, 5th. (Which is basically a 3rd, 4th, 5th.)

I highly doubt SJS have offered that package since Johnsson got injured and Covid wiped out the rest of this season. Trades are based on the here and now, not in past seasons where parameters have completely changed. The few teams that can eat 3.4 million in cap space for an undersized, 3rd line winger right now will be offered multiple other trades with better assets as most of the teams need to dump cap space for next year. Those teams with cap space going into this off season will be dealing from a position of strength and should be able to get some really good assets in return for taking other team's cap dumps.

That is the problem I see with so many trade proposals on this site involving Johnsson, everyone is basing his worth on his single 20 goal season 2 years ago while playing with Toronto's elite forwards, and completely ignoring his current season playing on the 3rd line, having a serious injury, and the current economic climate of the NHL. He is still a serviceable player, but there are lots of other options on the market that can achieve exactly what he did this year , and at a much cheaper cost.

Clear salary and take a flyer on a young player. The Leafs are really good at developing players. Maybe he can get back on track. He certainly isn't going to waltz into the lineup, the guy would need to prove he has what it takes.

Dermott by all accounts has less leverage. He may have played more games but Mikheyev had very good stats prior to his injury. Dermott doesn't have arbitration and wasn't exactly lighting it up. He was less than Holl so getting more than Holl is unfair.

How? What has Pulli done? Nothing, and then demanded a trade and lost a season playing in Europe. His value is minimal. A 1st round bust who won't play for you vs a proven middle 6 winger with speed and a team friendly contract is not leaning Edmonton's way.

I'd give Kerfoot more time in TO. He can play centre with us more valuable than Johnsson.

That's funny. He's an RFA winger who is all but guaranteed to have McDavid or Draisaitl as a pivot. If he doesn't get the offer he wants he'll go to arbitration, take the one year deal, and pad his stats like crazy.

Like when he was a rookie and a 2nd year player and couldn't out perform guys like Rattie? Pulli couldn't even perform in the AHL.
