Really ? It’s a tough call, MTL take a step back since they are losing a top6 player, but gets two top 10 pick. Buffalo gets a solid 2C for long term, taking the chance to miss one of Holtz Lundell Perfetti

Not in this draft. We aren't a max domi away, and I would rather have the higher ceiling prospect and have a new gm look for a center to play in our middle 6- not at the cost of 7oa.

Are you kidding me? A 40 point forward for a 7th overall pick in a deep draft?

So Reinhart is a 40 point forward ?? Take a closer look to both player stats and do a little reflection.

How many seasons is this 7th overall pick from contributing to the Sabres? Probably two at least but maybe longer, do the Sabres really have the time to wait for another draft pick to develop and hopefully pan out?

I think you're confusing former Habs Galchenyuk with Max Domi.

And they haven’t been great at drafting. In the past 10 year they had 3 time the 8th overall pick and it haven’t been a success at all. Considering the players that where selected a few soot behing them, they just miss three time with Nylander( Sergachev 9th) , Ristolainen( Horvat 9th) and Mittelstad ( Villardi, Necas and Suzuki 11th to 13th)

You know nothing about hockey ffs. Detroit should trade their potential 1st overall pick for Domi because it hasn’t done anything for them either. You see your flawed knowledge?

Yes cause the 1st overall pick and the 7th overall pick are the exact same thing.. Lol.. And where did I say anything about Detroit? Is your reading ability flawed?

Calm the **** down, it was a question, if you'd rather keep hoping and waiting on prospects cause they're all surefire bets to be said teams next great hope then have at it, good luck! From everything I've heard it sounds like Lafreniere is the only player from the 2020 draft that's ready to step into the NHL next season so yeah your 7th overall pick is likely at least another season away from contributing to the Sabres whereas Domi would really help solidify the top 6 now as opposed to later but later is okay cause there's always hope for next season in Buffalo apparently!

They have not been good at drafting, especially at 8. Id rather say they are due, and in a deep draft id risk it. The gm deserves to be fired and quite a bit of the roster needs to be turned over either way. Theres only 2 players on the roster i want to see here in 3 years, draft the best forward available and burn the rest of the team down.

Draft is where most teams establish their core. Not trading the 7th overall pick for a guy who has 40 points.

**in 71 games on pace of 51 pt seasons, which is his usual production. Even if that 72 pts season was a career high, you're still proving how you don't know anything about domi. There's a difference between a player average 40 pts per season (Galchenyuk) and 50 pts per season (Domi).

The fact that you point out the 17 goals for 44 points in 71 games in even more laughable unless you think 40 is a bigger number than 44 or 50

Nylander was a horrible pick as you correctly point out Sergachev was selected directly after him. Thank goodness Botterill corrected that mistake.
Hovat would certainly fit better on this team right now than Ristolainen as Buffalo still has Miller, Montour and Jokiharju at RHD, but Risto is hardly a bust as Nylander is.
You are also correct that Villardi, Necas and Suzuki would be better fits on this team but neither Rasmussen nor Tippett who were taken before your trio are as good as Mittelstadt.
So IMO of the 3 examples you have given only the Nylander pick was really bad.
Only 5 players taken in the 2013 draft have played more games than Ristolainen and only 7 have more pts than him (Jones is the only D-man in that group and he was taken 4th OA) and only two players taken after Ristolainen have more pts both forwards Domi and Horvat. All in all Ristolainen was a very good pick at 8th OA.
So in the evaluation of the Sabres 8th OA picks, Ristolainen was good, the Jury is still out on Mittelstadt (but it does not look promising) and Nylander was just a horrible pick.

I agree, let's keep the pick.
At the time of the draft, most pundits thought Buffalo stole Mittelstadt (as he was projected to go 4th OA) and that may still turn out to be true. It was not considered a very good draft on the day of the draft, but there were many good players taken and maybe we could have done better but the players taken right after Casey, Rasmussen nor Tippett, are not as good as he right now.
But 7th OA is better than 8th OA, and let's hope it does not take years for him to contribute in the NHL.
