So tell us what the purpose of the Leafs to get two LTIRs, or the how does it benefit the other team?
Hollawell and SDA certainly aren't great prospects and Bracco is doubtful as an NHLer.

50%+ of teams don't make much money. Last year Anaheim lost 3.1m USD and Arizona lost 15m USD. This year with Covid that number will be even higher. At the end of the day, teams are still businesses and to a management losing 10m, 20m, 30m paying a pick that likely won't become anything and getting 5m off the books seems fine. On the flip side, Toronto made 120m last year and have already "budgeted" for more LTIR's with Horton/Clarkson. A pick is the price.

For the NJ trade yes ik Hollowell and SDA aren't amazing but their still good prospects with a decent-ish chance of becoming something and I think NJ would accept that. (Based off what the ACGM's on this site have accepted.)

So how much do Hossa and Kesler cost the their teams in actual money? Clarkson's contract was fully insured, never cost the Leafs owners anything.

I'm pretty sure most of their contracts are not insured since they played recently. Clarkson was aqquired to raise their cap in some way I don't understand, that was a little different. No idea how much they will cost, but it doesn't really matter to Toronto. They could PLAY both of them and still make hundreds of millions.

Every single contract should have some type of insurance and the bigger and longer they are the more insurance coverage they should have. Otherwise the team is doing it wrong.

Clarkson's LTIR would have helped the Leafs if Marner had not been signed before the opening of the season. If Marner had been delayed in signing, yea Clarkson LTIR would have helped the Leafs. Fact is Horton and Clarkson didn't help the Leaf cap at all last year. No you're absolutely wrong about Clarkson....his contract was fully insured. And Leafs certainly don't want Kelser's contract because there is the possibility that he might be medically fit at some time, and then the Leafs don't want his cap fit. Plus why would Kesler waive his NMC...if he has a chance of returnig.
Sorry, these continuing trades of LTIRs to the Leafs are absolutely meaningless.
