we dont need another offensive minded defenseman in Deangelo. If leafs were to move nylander fox would be who they would want and he wants to only play for the rangers so it wont work

Value is there or close to it but we have no use or need for Nylander.

We have to upgrade our defensive structure, not acquire more offense. Plus Buch is actually a pretty good 2 way player so we're keeping him!

I think if you swapped Dermott for Sandin, it's closer but Rangers still say no...Deangelo is that good and the difference between Buch and Nylander is not massive.

Leafs get some toughness in both regards and need RHD not LHD. So they get a righty for a lefty (righty is the better player) and a replacement for for Nylander who is half as expensive....there's no way Buch is less than half the player Nylander is, if you think that you aren't really keeping up with the league

Buchnavic is barely better than Kapanen. Kapanen is younger so he will be as good as Buch

Yeah I mean if you changed Buch/Deangelo to Strome/Trouba. This trade starts to make more sense for the Rangers. The difference in value between Strome and Dermott is in Strome's favor and between Nylander and Trouba it's in Nylander's favor. I'd argue that between those 2 pairs of players, the difference in value is close.
