Umm...well DAL would do both trades. Not sure why would BUF and NSH consider these.

While that might be true, I'd be surprised if BUF would accept an offer that doesn't involve a single NHL level player.

If I were NSH, I'd keep my pick and sign a LD as a free agent. There's already surplus of 3rd pair D-men in the league.

You are absolutely correct. IMO Buffalo would not give up Pilut for that. The only value is the 2nd round pick and Pilut has already demonstrated that he is worth more than that.
While many people may criticize Ristolainen, he plays top minutes for Buffalo for 4 different head coaches. The team has no offense to keep the puck out of Buffalo's zone, so he is going to look really bad playing many minutes when his tank is out of gas.

Yeah. I think mocking Risto has become one of the most common things on this site. I've seen some people even saying that he's a fringe NHLer.

What they are not looking at that he plays for one of the weakest teams in the league and he's constantly been scoring 40+ points a year - a feat rare for any D in the league. He's easily a 2nd pair offensive D.

Players like that have some value, despite what people seem to think. It's no wonder Risto hasn't been moved when the offers become so lacking as this one.

I agree, Ristolainen is on a decent contract, plays tons of minutes, hits, scores and comes to play every night. Yes I have seen him make bad decisions but even Brad May made Bourque look bad.
Look at this offer for Montour. If this trade would happen, it would give the Sabres a true #2 center and a forward prospect who may be as good as Cozens.
