bad team

Wouldn't talk, Perhaps the worst Red Wings team in memory just swept your Habs 4-0 this past season. Doesn't say much about them as a team right now.

The Wings beating the habs was embarassing for sure and shouldn’t have happened to say the least but whatever.

I’m sure this is gonna get some big hate but I think it would be smart for their rebuild if the wings trade Larkin and Mantha. They’re going to be in rebuild mode for a few years and Larkin and Mantha could bring in some big prospects and picks. Ottawa did great with the Karlson trade and I think Detroit could do the same in moving Larkin and Mantha. You’re going to use up their good years when the team isn’t good, might as well add good young talent for when guys like Zadina and this years pick enters their prime. Get more first round picks and find the goalie of the future.

I agree with trading Mantha he'll be 26 when the next season starts if there is one, But noway are we trading our future captain who'll be turning 24 at the end of July. Larkin isn't going anywhere. And Detroit's in great position to possibly be adding one of Lafreniere or Byfield/Stutzle and Yzerman will have that team competing soon rather then later. I trust Yzerman and i don't think it will be to long until this team is competing again. Mantha i would deal for a top 4 LD as that will be our big weakness here shortly. Larkin noway he's a Wing at least for another 3 years and then after that it's up to him if he wants to remain with his childhood team or no.

I agree, I was eve thinking the other day to say Montreal for the 8th overall pick (pending where they draft) and KK. Not saying this will happen or if it's fair but it's something the wings could usez especially in this year's draft. Larkin is untouchable end of story.

As for the EK65 comparison, the difference is about 6 years, Larkin being 24 and coming into his own as we get out of this rebuild compared to EK who would be in his mid 30s and heavily declined is a big difference

I mean I get the love for Larkin and yeah he’s young my point is just comparing to the haul you can get for him and how it could really help add numerous pieces. This years pick is the face of your future and Although Larkin is a great player he’s only one guy and moving him can bring in 3-4 real good players. I do however respect the Larkin love just trying to find ways the Wings can add some multiple firsts and good players like the Rangers and Sens were able to do.

Sorry but Vancouver is declining that. Demko is basically untouchable unless Markstrom is resigned and all Indications are that he’s going to be a UFA and test the market so why would Vancover trade their only goalie with NHL success they have on the roster? It seems kind foolish to trade him if your Vancouver, unless you’re getting a monster steal and they really aren’t here.

I understand, was operating under assumption Markstrom is resigned

Karlsson was a pending UFA and like 30 and Ottawa had no choice but to trade him, not really comparable. It only (might) work out so well because the Sharks had a crazy, unpredictably bad season. If Wings are still a mess by the time Larkin and Mantha are 29-30 years old then you move them.
