Did I say that? No.

All you see is a 3rd line player. He would be on almost any top 6 in the league if not in Toronto. Somethkng about Marner and Nylander🤷‍♂️

I counted about 12 teams he’d be top 6 forsure that’s not even half...

They’re similar and I’m a pens fan.

Well you'll be glad to know you got the superior RHD. Marino is better, it's not even really debatable... What part of Bear's game is better than Marino's?

Im not living in my fantasy land. Im not saying Kap is worth Pesce or Parayko or whatever the **** others might, just saying that you should not have Bear in same conversation as those people. You are living in fantasy land where Bear is top pairing D. He isnt. He is a top-4 D with value of top-4 D. He is not a top pairing one until he proves it on yearly basis. He might stink next year and play 3rd pairing role behind Larsson and Bouchard. Would you be saying the same thing?

This season bear had the best season any RHD in Edmonton has had in a long time. They are not trading him for a middle 6 winger.

That's not too hard an accomplishment. But that's fine all I'm saying is that the difference between them definitely isn't a 1st round pick...

I feel bad for you. If some leafs fans were telling me Kap = Marino I’d lose my mind. It’s frustrating hearing them say Kap = Bear. Bear is excellent. He’ll be a fixture on that D for years

Oh man some of the trade ideas I see with the leafs acgm I really can’t help but laugh it’s priceless

I mean of course.. but is it that he is soooo extremely Pesce/Parayko like good or is it the fact that the last good RHD in Edmonton was Justin Schultz 5 years ago and before that Tom ****ing Gilberg 9 years ago? Might be the first one and might be the other one. NHL team trading for the guy would think the 2nd one and Holland would think the first thing. They meet in a middle. He is a top-4 D valuewise. Holl had the best season any RHD in Toronto had in years. Maybe its because Babcock was so idiotic that he didnt see this Parayko/Pesce like potential or maybe its the fact that last good Toronto defenseman on right side was Cody Franson 7 years ago.. you decide.

And you would be getting the best winger Edmonton would have in years. Unless you count Draisaitl as winger. Same argument.

I keep reiterating the same point, Bear excelled this year and overachieved expectations. What do you not understand? Bear this year was more valuable to his team that Kap would ever be on Edmonton. Holl was maybe the leafs best RHD but he was still pretty average. Bear was excellent, ask Edmonton fans who watched him

Everybody is a top D man once Leafs enter the trading chat on this site.

In this case I am going to have to disagree with you, Bear is around the same level as Rasmus Andersson, It's his first official year in the league (not including the 17 games last year) and he was already one of Edmonton's best D. Its as simple as they just wont trade him, not that his value goes up when discussing the Leafs

You forgot Petry. And I'm not sure why you're comparing Bear to Pesce and Parayko - sure they're 1RDs but completely different style of players. Talking about Letang or Ellis would make more sense IMO.

Petry was pretty not good on Oilers. Im just saying that people on here are saying things about Ethan Bear like he is second coming of Pesce/Parayko when it comes to his value.

LA, Anahein, San Jose, Edmonton, Ottawa, Montréal, NYI, Devils, Nashville, Florida, Columbus,Chicago, Detroit, Minny, NYR....

There's half the league off the top of my head.

Vancouver: depends if Toffoli resigns.

Pittsburgh: putting Guentzel on the LW.... which he plays

🤦‍♂️

Wow this got out of hand.
Bear - good showing but it's an 80 game sample - TBH Bear is basically Dermott at this point , let's see where Bear is at around the 150 game mark before we go throwing around Kapenen+ for him - and yes Kapenen is a top 6 F in Edmonton it's not even a competition. Bear has played a very small amount of Top 4 hockey and so far excelled - Kap has played a small amount of Top 6 hockey and has excelled (as every argument ever against Kap has been "but how many of those points did he get playing with Matthews,Tavares or Nylander" so we know he can skate with top players

And Kapanen would be 1st liner on Oilers. Thats the same argument. Im not overvalueing Kap. Just saying that he is worth a top-4 D like Bear.

Agile puck-moving defence men are the hottest commodity in the NHL right now. By contrast, there are at least two dozen wingers like Kapanen. Kapanen and Bear are not in the same class of value to a team. No way would Holland lose an RFA RHD like Bear for someone like Kapanen, who is good, but is fairly overpaid.

Bear has the edge agility, shot, and puck-moving ability smile. The Marino situation is a bit different. Marino did not want to sign with Edmonton, so Holland got what he could for him. Penguins got a steal. But so did Edmonton, if that makes sense.

You're the one bringing up Pesce and Parayko though. The comparison is really awkward. Try using Letang or Ellis or Spurgeon.

5v5 G/60
Kassian: 1.03
Yamamoto: 1.00
Kapanen: 0.70

5v5 P/60
Yamamoto: 3.16
Kassian: 2.21
Kapanen: 1.90

It's not obvious to me that Kapanen would play on a top-6 line in Edmonton.
