That depends on what team needs what position.
Arizona would draft Barzal because they need centres
Leafs could draft Chabot. But I would still draft Marner because now we have a lot of LH defenseman

Unpopular opinion, but I agree with you. Chabot is already putting in some of the biggest minutes in the league and 50 point seasons on the worst team in the NHL. He was going for a 20 goal 70 point season last year and he is the only defenceman on the Sens unless you think Borociewiki, Zaitsev, Reilly, Jaros are good. Chabot has no talent to play with on the worst team and puts up the best minutes and points. Now this kid with people like Lafreniere, Byfield, Stuzle, Tkachuk, Batherson, Norris and defencemen like JBD, Thomson and Brannstrom will be better. He should go 3rd overall

You're right Chabot is better than Dahlin, he's also 3 years older... Dahlin was 19 years old this season, seems a little premature to think that he couldn't end up a better dman than Chabot

Sorry but I'll still take Dahlin over Chabot. The kid went straight to the NHL as an 18 years old Defenseman and put up 44 pts in 82 games while playing for the Buffalo Sabres. Guys like Hedman, Doughty, Makar, Hughes, Josi, Burns, Karlsson, Heiskanen all needed at least 1 year of development.

(NB: Yes, Hedman and Doughty went straight to the NHL following their draft but they both have "late birthdays" unlike Dahlin)

Let's see... Chabot is 23 and Dahlin is 19. Chabot in the NHL has played 205 games and has scored 119 Pts. Which is like .58 Pts per game. Dahlin has played 141 games in the NHL and has scored 84 points which is .6 pts per game. Just slightly better, so raw numbers not very impressive right? Now listen to this. Dahlin scored 44 points last year as a rookie, the rookies this year are better right? Dahlin was 18. He was chasing records and there is only 2 Dmen in the league to score more points than Dahlin in the NHL. Phil Housley, who scored 70 something. But that buffalo team also scored at an almost 4 goals per game rate. If you take all that into consideration Dahlin and Housley where very close. The other defensemen to score more than Dahlin was Bobby Orr. Yes, Bobby figgin Orr. Dahlin is bigger 6'3" 193 and Chabot is 6'2" 190. Dahlins still filling out his frame. Dahlin is a lot more smooth when it comes to offense and skating. He has a intense Hedman like intensity in his game. In 4 years when Dahlin is Chabots age, I wouldn't be shocked at all if Dahlin has a Norris, or is atleast in the voting.

I don't know but when Chabot was 20 he had played 1 NHL game. This season Dahlin has one more point in 12 less games. I don't know who better but I do know I'd take either of them on my team.

For me, it’s not even close potential wise. Dahlin’s skating, smoothness & poise is not something you seen for the usual great defenseman. I think he has potential to reach Karlsson’s level & possibly even Boutique.

There is a reason he was named the best player of the world junior's in 2016. When Chabot is playing with Lafrenière (or Stützle), Byfield, Tkachuk, Norris, Batherson, Formenton ...etc., his production will go up. Both Chabot and Dahlin are incredibly smooth and gifted. No need to compare them now, both are really good and they're a little different.

I second this
