Description

Call me crazy...but does this trade make sense for both sides? NJ needs D and NYI needs the cap space. Buying out Schneider's contract saves NYI money rather than buying out Boychuk's.
Boychuk can mentor Smith while NJ also gets Leddy to play on the top pair beside Severson.

Having Leddy and Boychuk in NJ also makes it more appealing to Greiss so link back up with his former teammates.

Is this a win-win or have I been in quarantine too long? If I am completely off tell me lol, I want to know!

If you want a deal like this to get rid of Schneider I’d make it a 3 way deal. I like the idea, but the isles will have Sorokin and Varlamov next year and we don’t need Schneider. Maybe a deal could work like this.

Devils get Leddy and Boychuk
Wings get Schneider and a combo of picks/prospects from the isles (most likely a 1st or Bode Wilde)
Isles get an AHL player/7th round pick from one of the teams

Edit: on second thought ur deal is much better let’s do it lol scrap my idea

I don't agree with the Devils giving up a 2nd when they don't have to. we're still rebuilding and already don't have a 2nd or 3rd this year.

Leddy's expendable due to Toews. Boychuk's expendable due to Dobson and Mayfield. Isles need to shed salary for Barzal, Toews, Pulock, Sorokin, and Pelech later on.

Glad to see I wasn't too far off! I definitely think it works for both parties with maybe some minor tweaking to get the values right.
