How does Tampa keep it together

Description
Like many of you on cap friendly, I check out out everyones cap situation and look at creative ways to ice the best team while staying within the budget. I was looking at Tampa's situation and looking at different options that could keep them cap compliant without losing Sergachev, Cirelli, and Cernak...

For the first time in a while I am pretty much stumped....

This team has so many guys with NTC's it seems almost impossible to put it together without losing major pieces.

I did it here, but this includes a CBO and multiple cap dump trades and STILL the contracts given for Sergachev and Cirelli are pretty damn low in my opinion.

How can Tampa make this work?

Killorn has a full NTC. Good luck with that trade.

***EDIT*** I completely missed Cernak getting $1.5M that's even harder.

I think they could get actual value for Killorn without giving a 2nd round pick

Killorn will not cost a 2nd to move, he will fetch at least a 2nd. He is far from a cap dump

So here's the issue. He's not hurt or near his 40's...so why wouldn't he just pick the 15 teams that can't accept him. Where does he have a better chance of winning besides TBL? I get Callahan. He was injured and OTT could write that off, but what's in it for Killorn? Why is he going to choose to leave?

He does right now, but that might indeed change over the summer.

Obviously a CBO is very helpful, but I think another thing that people fail to realize is that it's not the end of the world if Tampa trades one of those RFA's. Is it probable that Tampa is worse coming out of this? Yes. But they will still be a fantastic team unless the GM is completely incompetent.

There are more than 15 teams that could take him on. If incentivized properly... Thats why the Killorn trade is a huge L for Tampa.

It's not his choice if the team isn't on his list.

Maybe, but I figured because Killorn has the modified NTC he would rule out the teams that would be interested in him. Thats why I chose Vegas too.

You would have to trade Killorn to a team that probably doesn't want him very much

Ok, fine...but do you know how easy it is to find 15 teams that can't take $4.5M??? I can name 20 teams if the cap isn't going up. Vegas is 100% on that list too.

I agree with you.. Thats why I said above that I don't think its going to be easy at all. What is the alternative for Tampa?

So TB takes back a cap dump then ships it to one of the teams with cap room, there's always a way around **** Killorn has to be moved.

It's not that simple. $4.5m isn't a ton of money so long as the player lives up to it. Corresponding moves are an option for every team and in this scenario CBO's are a thing so that opens up the field even more. If Tampa wants him gone, they'll find a way.

You're right. They are in trouble to keep those 3 RFA's. I think they're going to have to move at least one for picks. Or maybe even two of them for picks and younger prospects.

Even if they can get their guys to waive their NTC's, teams know they have them "over a barrel" so to speak. These guys are all on 4/5 years remaining at 5mil and about to hit their 30's. This means Tampa is going to have to pay picks or prospects to move these NTC guys.

Tampa isn't my team, but I think they will be the most interesting team in the off-season to watch because of this problem. Cirelli and Sergachev could be huge impacts for other teams that could land them.

Tampa won't be paying picks or prospects to move Killorn or Johnson if he waives. Gourde will either be kept or possibly bought out via cbo. Contrary to what most seem to think on here, the other 30 GM's aren't out to get Tampa or "have them over a barrel." The only rfa who even has the slightest chance of moving is Cernak, as neither Serg nor Cirelli are interested in leaving a top contender. Tampa is in "win now" mode and while JBB is also still factoring in the future, he's not trading 2 emerging stars for lottery tickets at this point in the team's window. Tampa may trade Cernak depending how they want the defense to look moving forward. Tampa rfa's take less on the 3 year bridge knowing it allows a top 5 team to stay together and they know they will get paid after. Those that don't know or follow Tampa will be surprised when Cirelli, Serg and likely Cernak come in at no more than 12(and likely closer to 11) combined, but not ppl in Tampa.

Tampa will certainly lose 3 or 4 less vital pieces(most likely Killorn, Paquette, one of TJ/Gourde through cbo, trade or worst case, waiving outright, and Coburn through trade or buy out) but none of the core pieces that make Tampa a top contender. Even keeping Killorn isn't out of the question, if there's a cbo of Gourde/Johnson and the other is convinced to waive, although that seems less likely than moving Killorn for good value. It will be interesting, but I'll continue to bet on Tampa figuring it out with their rfa's before believing they would ever be traded or take an OS from a team not as close to contending as Tampa is.
