Golden Knights Have To Keep Lehner

Description
Didn't trade any picks from 2020 because those probably aren't being traded with the uncertainty. It could be difficult to judge prospects during the next draft if play at all levels are interrupted for the next year but I think Vegas needs to think about futures some after giving up so many.

Yeah, and no offence to Buffalo but they shouldn't trade a pick that belongs to them unless there is a top 10 protection on it because who knows how high that pick may be.

There's probably a few other teams that would offer Lehner a little more

Expansion happens soon enough too so only one can be protected...

They have to win, it's been long enough and Tuch will score 20-30 goals and 50-70 points playing with Eichel and be that power forward they are missing.

Barclay Goodrow got a 1st in a deep draft, and so did Blake Coleman. Tuch could easily get a 1st from them.

Get rid of Fleury and get someone else. He makes too much to be a backup

It's possible but no state tax here. Plus, he has a reputation for being tough to work with for a time, regardless of personal issues just in his prickly attitude. There may not be so many teams offering him a ton more because it hasn't happened two seasons in a row now.

Side note, Thornton terrible rookie season followed by hall of fame career gives me more optimism about Glass injury riddled rookie season and the possibility of a bounce back season from him, not expecting hall of fame career but to be a top six center.

Coleman was a TBL "1st" (not BUFF) and he "got that" a) at the TDL where most stock goes up, and b) to keep him out of the 'spoke-B' rival pre-playoff...

Vegas won't get rid of Fleury. He's the face of their franchise. Also doesn't make much sense to have that much money tied up in 2 goalies.

What Vegas should do is trade up in the draft to select Askarov. His development should coincide with the end of Fleury's career, but until then VGK should get a solid backup and not a Lehner worth north of 6.

There's always situational reasons for trades. Tuch is a better player and the exact type of player they need and they need to make the playoffs next season, another high pick would do them no good with where they're at, they need to start producing results. So the situation and need is definitely there and the player would most likely prove worth it.

Good stuff...
However, Tuch's SITUATION today, right now, is a little thing called "health" or more importantly - the lack of it.
It'll likely break any deal(s) or negate the "1st" without some conditions (ie: games played perhaps of 60 or 70+ etc.)

Which pick is Askarov supposed to draft at? Who would Vegas need to trade with? I suppose Vegas could offer Greiss 4 million and try to use Tuch in a package to move up.

that is absolutely the risk in their equation they would weigh. He was injured for too much of this season, when he got six or seven games under his belt he looked an absolute force but that didn't happen often enough this season and they would be rolling the dice to a degree but that is also part of their position as GM.

I like Tuch but BUFF cannot give up the 1st without a guarantee more concrete than rolling dice etc.
* If Tuch doesn't suit up in 65gms (due to injury) then it's a 2nd (and a 4th) to LV...?

* PS: all the while the 1st from BUFF is lottery protected ( My lawyers made me insert that retroactively)...

They could definitely ask for conditions and I think Vegas would comply as I'm confident he can stay healthy going forward. Two of the injury he got were unfortunate hits that led to concussions, more bad luck than being injury prone.

Probably in the 9-15 range. VGK 2020 1st and 2 of their 3 2021 2nd's would be enough I would think to jump up the board. Askarov is really, really good. VGK could go seamlessly from Fleury to Askarov without a drop off in goaltending. Think of the Green Bay Packers going from Favre to Rodgers

He's a big man and likes to play physical/net-front so he's likely more susceptible but it's not an exact science yet or for many years to come.
Concussions in 2020 are not treated like in my day...of..."shake if off and get back out there Jimmy, go get even"

They aren't a rebuilding team. They're a team that needs to make the playoffs next season, in which case the 1st is mid to later. And you absolutely underrated Tuch, he would score 30 with Eichel. Tell me how much Blake Coleman and Barclay Goodrow aren't worth a 1st in THIS draft.
