Reportedly Robin Lehner wants more, Probably in the neighborhood of 6 years $42 million. Doubt he'd take that little. Considering he'll be the most sought out UFA Goaltender on the open market.

So Toronto spends $21,000,000 to buy out Jones and trades Johnsson and a 7th and in return they get Sörensen, a 2nd in 2020 and a 3rd in 2021? Why does Toronto do this?

So the Sharks spend 10.5m on two UFA goalies? Looks like you no confidence in either guy. At the cap with 20 man roster...not advisable.
As aedoran suggested above. Leafs ownership are out 21m for a middling return, not happening.

Marleau cost the Leafs 3m cash...his July 1st signing bonus, but the cap hit was 6.25m which transferred to the Canes. Leafs decided to better to give a first and get rid of Marleau cap than trade 7m Nylander.
