With Byram's potential I doubt it. But If Colorado really wants to push now then they should do it

Like I said it depends if they want to go all in or have a healthy future.

Value is probably there but I think Avs would target someone younger than Gally though (Like Connor mentioned in other threads) and it would be closer to a 1 for 1 situation. The minute you have to add Poehling and a high 2nd usually means the main piece is not quite good enough for the other team to accept it.

He should, he's a better player than Kyle Connor, just a bit older and has a shorter contract

I don't see a motivation for the Avs. They're in an amazing spot defensively. Why trade that away when they can fill forward spots another way? They could easily sign a FA to play on the wing this year. Dadonov, Tofolli if he doesn't resign in Van. I like Gallagher but not for Byram

That was an overpayment at the deadline which is the norm of the TDL. This kind of trade wont happen during the offseason. (Minus the Duchene and Karlsson trades because thoses trades are outliers. I bet Sakic and Dorion didn't expect to get massive haul.)

Apparently, Byram was a non-starter for a potential Taylor Hall (Hall is just a year older than Gallagher) trade. If Byram is shipped to Montreal, I think Habs could have to add something else to sweeten the deal but other than that, it's better than those Price trade (Gallagher > Price due to contract)

Joe laughs and hang up...

No way a potential top 2 defensemen who is cost control for many years in exchange for a UFA next year middle 6 and a bottom 6 prospect.

I agree it's pretty similar to Gallagher for Byram and I think they both are very close in value.

So you're telling me that outside of the TDL nobody overpays and then proceed to give me two tangible exemples of it from the past 4 years, please tell me more about your pov.

Overpayments are a thing that can happen any day of the week yet it's only more common at the TDL.

no its not, its the easiest pass. Avs are not trading one of the top drafted prospects not in the NHL for 1 year left on his contract before hitting UFA.
Byram is not trade currency for older players on expiring contracts

Depends how you look at it. Maybe that one player puts them over the top. It happens all the time.

Please save your obnoxious know-it-all attitude for someone who actually gives a ****. I don't. Not a fan of either team.

If you dont like it then dont jump in making these claims if you have no idea about either team, thats what happens when you make the comment you open yourself up for debate and criticism about it if you have no clue

I have lots of ideas about both teams. Probably more than most. If you read what I said, "not a fan of either team", it may make more sense. If you read a little closer, you will see that I have no interest in going any further with some jackass who "thinks" he knows how either one of these teams are really truly thinking because, well.... quite frankly... YOU DON'T.

I can go all day debating the merits of a trade like this and what it could potential mean to a team like the Av's who I truly believe are on the verge of something great. But, I won't because it is much easier to just hit the ignore button and never have to listen to your tripe again.
