Not a leafs fan but I can tell you right now this trade neither helps the leafs financially (since they need to cut cap) or helps with their needs. The g really dont need a Risto/Barrie/DeAngelo type defenseman. They are one of the highest scoring teams in the league while also being one the leading goals against teams.

I think your point 1 is laughable. For point 2, you traded for plekanec from Montreal, i dont think that matters. point 3 is valid, but not what i was responding to.

Stop we don't want the most overrated defenseman in the league. You guys just want to trade him because you know he is trash. Ask yourself if you had a fight with your rivalry team would you want to be traded to them? I most definitely wouldn't. Especially when that fan base is huge. That trade with the Leafs is horrible for Buffalo. Retaining salary and giving up a 2nd should get you better than a LW that we don't need.
