Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Detroit picks 4th overall in this scenario*

I think value is pretty close on both trades but feel free to let me know any changes you would make. I think both trades also make a lot of sense for both teams involved.

Toews is a long-term piece for the Islanders. Him, Pelech, Dobson, and Pulock are off limits.

Well duh. Hence why there is essentially a 2nd round draft choice (1st pick of 3rd round) added as well. The reason in my mind why the Isles would consider this is simply due to the cap crunch they are facing. Cholowski has some work to do but still has a lot of potential and is obviously going to be a much lower cap hit than Toews. I do think the Wings are coming out ahead in this and it would probably take more to pry Toews away for Long Island.

I agree he should be! I just think something is going to have to give this off-season, but it will most likely be Leddy rather than Toews (hopefully anyways lol).

Leddy's getting moved. They plan on keeping Greene for cheaper to mentor Dobson.

Isles wouldn’t trade toews unless it was an overpay. They’ll trade Leddy and trade/buyout whoever they have to in order to keep toews.

I see cholowski as a #4, 5at best. Toews is a top pairing caliber defenseman

& yet they'll likely lose one of them in the expansion draft if they don't move one.. someone is gonna get moved. Toews is most likely of the 4

Or they can trade a pick or prospect to Seattle not to take one of them like they did with LV during their expansion draft.

Defence that are young and good like those 4 will cost a lot more than just a pick to give up to protect them

I wouldn't trade Cholowski and a 3rd for Towes. I like Towes and I think he is a good defenseman. This is his first full season and when the season started he was 25. The only reason I bring up age is because defenseman take longer to develop or mature. Cholowski is only 22 and still has time. If Yzerman can get something good for him by all means but it's also to early to write Cholowski off. The Toronto trade is a little scary. Kerfoot is basically a young Helm if you compare Kerfoot's stats to Helm's at the start of his career you'll see what I mean. I wouldn't give up a 2nd for Kerfoot. Bowey has improved but still isn't very valuable in trade.

Toews would have been on the islanders during the 17-18 season if he didn’t have season ending shoulder surgery. He’s already a top pairing caliber Dman. If yzerman was presented with this offer, he’d take it and run.
