This is horrible. Selling low on all our players. Our bottom 6 is trash now...

Kapanen returns at least a mid 1st or we keep him.

Overpay for Clifford and Gauthier.

If I were dubas I would wait for the trade deadline in febuary to trade kapenan. Teams are more likely to give a 1st for him then.

Kap returns "at least" a mid 1st? No he doesn't. He was on pace for 42 points (15.5 goals)....those kinds of stats for a winger despite him going on "only" 24 years old this summer, just don't return mid 1st rounders in this years draft. A late first or a 2nd rounder and good prospect sure. I'm a fan of Kap too, but realistically people say Saad is only worth a late first despite on pace for 30 goals and 47 points, albeit 3 years older but honestly, who would you rather have?

K first of all most of these trades/signings are flawed for the following reasons

1. Kapenan aint going anywhere
2. Kerfoot would be traded for a cheaper winger and low pick
3. Dermott would probs go for a depth RD
4. Thorton is to slow to be the 3c on the leafs
5. Clifford contract is a big pass. Leafs are probs gonna let him walk as if its not under a mill big pass on him
6. Robertson just aint ready for the NHL
7. To much money for mikeyv (1.5 fo 2 years is fine)
8. Malgin is probs going to ottawa or back to europe

he actually can get you a first it just depends on when u trade him. The winter deadline would be the best time to do it as teams are willing to pay more. Tampa gave a first for goodrow so it can be done. I agree a mid first is a bit of a stretch probs be a low first.

Yes, at the TDL he can get a 1st, but of course at the TDL that's a late first.

I mean, not necessarily. Even playoff teams picks can be 16-20; I'd call that 'mid first'

This is a different answer from team to team, but more than you would think would lean towards Kapanen imo. Saad puts up the better numbers, but he'd be a rental and has a higher cap hit. Kapanen is younger, has potential to increase his numbers in a place that he gets more opportunity, and has two years left on his deal and is still an RFA after it's up. Solid trade chip.

Yeah, Kap is a mini Saad...very similar game with Kap being faster and Saad stronger...both more passers then shooters. Kap certainly has upside as Saad is at his peak right now.

Getting rid of NHL regulars for really nothing helpful and most of those UFA signings aren't good either.

Considering Kap is half the cap hit and 3 years younger I'd take Kap over Saad
