This is bad. I would better pays 6.75 for a 25 years old 60pts player who can play both wings and center than playing 7M for a 30 years old winger past his prime with another 4 years of contract. Ghost doesnt fix the difference and while I could see him helping the habs defense, I dont think we have to give up Domi for him. The Perreault trade is terrible too. Not that I value Mete that much but Perreault is a cap dump on almost every thread here. Jets would be happy to receive a 7th round pick just to get out of cap hell. Even with retention, we have more than enough bottom 6 player and absolutely dont need him to take another spot that a younger cheaper player could fill.

Well, I wouldnt mind guys like Reaves and Smith. They can bring something to the table the habs dont have but 3M for a 4th liner is a lot and Smith should get more. Demelo will definitly get a lot more too.

On a normal market your'right. But in 2020 reality, with our new friend Covid-19 + economic problems, a lot of Owner will go easy on the complementary con tract. I mean, 38 years old goalie and 5-6th defenseman, will have to take shorter deal and lower money for 2-3 years.

Even the bog boys, who will take a 5-6-7 year deal, will ask to get higher % of the money after the first 3 year. And before Covid-19, it's was upfront loaded contract.

Everything will change, that's why i thnik player like Demelo and Smith will get a lower contract this summer.
