Not that there is anything wrong with Kapanen but Anaheim's biggest weakness now and moving forward is their RD depth. Trading Manson and not getting a RD prospect back is just stupidity.

This is rather poor. The EDM trade is awful. The BUF trade isn’t much better. Terry can actually play in the NHL. Puljujarvi can’t. And although BO is probly expendable Miller is actually pretty bad. The Manson trade doesn’t look too bad to the eye but the ducks don’t need anymore middle 6 fillers.

Miller outside of BUF is actually p good, and how badness in BUF I think is overstated, yeah he was a scratch, but they have one of the deepest RD groups in the game, and they love Risto for whatever reason, I'd much prefer Miller over Risto and probably Montour as well, I'd probably do that trade, the other two are horrible from the ducks perspective tho,

Sometimes I'm pretty dumb, so please explain:

(1) what's the challenge?

(2) what's the rule he broke?

Thanks!

I doubt we make so many changes over the summer. Probably just trade Rakell, unless the change to the cap increase means we end up keeping him, and sign a few 2-way contracts.

There is no point in moving contracts that don't need expansion draft protection (Groulx) for ones that do (Miller) and/or signing contracts (Vats) to make bad trades (Manson). I won't even go into how awful that EDM deal is. We aren't moving any of our young prospects unless it returns a better, young player/prospect. We're rebuilding.

Agreed, but not at the expense of Groulx, who could end up a solid, cost-controlled bottom 6 energy guy. He also won't require protection at the ED. Miller would be nice 3rd pairing addition and PP specialist, but his contract is prohibitive. He's very overpaid.

Thanks for the feedback. I think its worth the chance on Puljujarvi personally.

Thanks. Would Liljgren and a forward like Johnsson be better?

Liljegren 100% would have to be included. A forward for cap purposes, sure. But i would add a 3rd at least

I don’t think you understand how bad miller was tho. He was one of the worst players in the league this season.

Puljujarvi might be worth taking a chance on just not for an nhl player. A future pick with conditions based on his play. EDM won’t get much for him even if they continue to play hard ball with his price.

He wasn't that bad, plus if he gets back to his form on Vegas he was legitimately a fringe first pair guy, it's certainly a risk I'd be willing to take, and while I'm not expecting that, I'd certainly expect somewhere in between where he was in BUF and VGK, and that's a solid top 4 guy on a fair at worst contract for a middle 6 C who if I'm being completely honest is probably signed for a bit too much for a bit too long...

Carolina reportedly offered a 2nd + a prospect last fall. His stock has risen since leading his team to the top of the Liiga standings. He's 2 years younger than Terry and sat out this season after requesting a trade, not because he can't play in the league.

He requested a trade because a team that could use top end forwards didn’t think he was ready.

An entry level contract is too much and too long? Also I saw tweet about 2/3s of the way thru the season showing just how awful miller was this season. It wasn’t pretty. Plus Gudbranson is a fine filler for a season in the top 4 if they don’t find a younger better player for that spot.

Rico's contract... Not BOG's lol, and if we have Guddy in the top 4... We're gonna need serious help... Plus idk what graphic you we looking at, but Miller was top 4 for the sabres at generating shots, generating scoring chances, and was first in xGF%... He was not good in terms of GF%, but that's not his fault that he can put this forwards into good scoring position and they can't score... And he was far better in Vegas before last year, like last year could have easily been written off as yeah... He was in Buffalo, that's like where players go to not succeed... Also I searched Colin Miller and scrolled back a few months on Twitter, he got a "C" grade by a BUF beat writer, but the only knocks were here took a while to get adjusted, and was bounced around the lineup... Not after that I got to the games where he was scratched, literally every game there were at least 5 posts saying... Why TF is Miller scratched... He's good!

So you’d rather give up Rico at his highest value (25 goal 2c) for Miller at his lowest? That doesn’t make much sense either. Also after looking some numbers up Miller might have been okay but he went from an analytics darling to just barely okay... The notion that Gudbranson is awful is true anymore. He was solid with Fowler. He’s been the partner that’s gotten the most out of Fowler in a long time. If you’re gonna move Gudbranson down for a rd that had his ups and downs this season it should be for Cernak.
