Trade looks great value wise. I just think liljegren is the last guy the leafs should trade. He may someday soon be that perfect d partner for rielly that they so desperately seek.

Yeah where are the Isles coming up with the cap to take on Marner, Plus be able to afford Barzal as well. Barzal is probably looking at close to $9.5M per over 7 or 8 years. No way they can afford this.

Isles decline. Value isn’t bad but this doesn’t make the isles a better team next season. Mayfield at RD1 to start the season isn’t ideal. I’d rather have pulock at RD1 + wahlstrom rw2 than just marner rw1.

yeah maybe a year from now when Dobson is a 1D, Mayfield 2D and Liljgren 3D and the cap is at 87 mill.

Even still with a flat cap that only leaves them roughly $10 million to sign 5 more players. And Barzal eats into most of that.

Marner is a fantastic player, but Isles would say no.

There is too much additional work they would need to do to make the cap work.

Pulock is more important to the team as their #1 D-Man than Marner would be.

Marner's stats would almost certainly decline in Trotz's system. And I think fairly quickly Marner would want out of the NYI as Trotz would not allow him to play his game.

That yes when the cap goes up and Dobsons ready I dont think they would pull the trigger on this trade but the value is spot on in my opinion
