Description
Seen a lot of MTL trades on here where Bergevin apparently forgot how to do the job. Guy has never lost a trade in his career and yet people on this site think he would just start giving players away for cheap

Détails additionnels:
Got a 2nd for Scandella but for the cheaper, younger and better player he would only get a 6th

Détails additionnels:
He gives up on the 19 year old that had over 30 points as the youngest player in the league last year and averaged a ppg in the AHL this year but he was to injured play in the NHL this year so time to give up in him and takes on an older reclamation project

That Nashville trade is a Montreal loss Kotkaniemi is a far superior prospect imo.

He lost the Shaw trade badly (the first one). Debrincat and Girard. Ouch.

I think he lost the Drouin and Sergachev trade. Sergachev just finished his last year of his ELC, Drouin been getting paid $5.5M in each of those years, and it cost the habs Radulov and Markov.

Alzner was a very bad signing. Price not looking good either.

Apart from that the good definitely outweighs the bad. Danault, Tatar, Suzuki, Petry, Vanek, Weber, Armia, Domi, all wins. Claiming Byron, signing Chiarot etc. Also added a ton of picks for Timmins to use in the draft lately, giving MTL a top 5 prospect pool in the NHL.

Is he as bad as others have claimed? No but there is literally no way you can say he has never lost a trade. Or at the very least "lost" is impossible to determine until all pieces involved have played out their careers and after the dust settles, then you can accurately determine which were winners and losers. There are some that many would bet money on being bad trades though.

With that said, overall, MB's problem hasn't been trades. Its been the other aspects of his job that he has not been very good at IMO.

The Shaw trade is definetly a loss but I dont think a team has ever really won a trade in a win now scenario. Plus he got those picks back when he traded Shaw again so we will wait and see. But I agree with the Alzner signing but even at the time he was a 27 year old dman who had successfully played over 800 games for Washington so the expectations were higher. Drouin and Serg I think will be another season or 2 before its decided, mostly because of what Tampa will have to do with a flat cap. And the Price signing had to happen unfortunately, just one of those contracts GMs are stuck into

People seem to quickly forget that Bergevin came in Montreal as a rookie GM and sadly his first ever 5 year plan hasn't panned out (Thanks Kreider).
Now being on his 2nd term he've made a lot of improvement all around I feel like his "youth plan" started around the 2018 TDL when he sent out Plekanec, Montoya, Jeřábek and Morrow out for picks. Since that date I cannot point out one lost trade nor a bad signing (Some might argue over Niemi but a one year deal at almost league minimum ... What'd you expect?). Both drafts (Even if we can't judge right now) are very good/excellent according to multiple prospect pool rankings.
Can we say he hasn't found a true backup goaltender? Yeah, if GMs would be fired over not finding a backup goaltender lol.... Can we just chill, come down to earth and wait for his 2nd term to be over and then see the outcome?

Fans are ok with the retool only if it last 3 months.

I remember when everyone was freaking out over the Weber for Subban trade, everyone at the time was talking about how good of a GM poile was. Poile had been a GM for ~35 years at the time of that trade, and he has never won a cup.

As it turns out, MTL won that trade anyways, so a GM with 5 or 6 yrs experience won a deal with a GM of 35 years.
