Strome has played very well since being acquired from EDM. Last season he had 18 goals in only 63 games and this season he has 18 goals in 70 games. Playing with Panarin though his assists total increased from 15 last season to 41. Strome has proven in New York(!) that he's a solid 2nd line center and that he could bring out the best in Panarin when paired together.
Trading Strome makes no sence for the Rangers. A team needs 3 lines that can score in order to be successful. With Howden playing much better at wing than at center, NYR has 3 centers, Mika, Strome, and Chytil. There's no one on the roster to replace Strome. Take the time to set the lines up and see for yourself.
Strome was traded to New York last season and proved he could be a 20 plus goal scorer playing 3rd line center or on right wing. This year he's proven he could be a point per game player centering a line with one of the best players in the league. Playing with Strome, Panarin is having the best year statistically he's ever had. If Strome were traded, another center would have to be brought in to replace him. Hopefully that center could handle the pressures of playing in NY and hopefully that center would be able to bring out the best in Panarin like Strome does.
