and all the other penguins fans..

I know this is crazy and we have no idea what the future holds. This is based on a ton of assumptions(prospect development/players career paths and new contract estimates/Edmonton failing so RNH wants to go to a contender/cap going up a bunch in 3 years/etc.
Anyway let me know what you think. Is this at all a possible situation for the pens to be in in 3 years?

Hopefully PO Joseph, Poulin, and Legare would be ready by then. This assumes Murray gets his game together and wants a big contract, which the pens won't give him. Murray and Hornqvist+picks/prospects go to Seattle for a piece to help us win now. Seattle's chances of pulling a Vegas are highly unlikely. RNH is a great C/LW. He played with Draisaitl a lot and is great defensively. If EDM pulls it together, very unlikely he leaves. But if it fails/goes mediocre a little longer and #97 and #29 get unhappy, EDM might blow it up.
Trades are so hard to predict so I left them out for the most part. Just resigned current players and prospects (hopefully) developed.

Thinking RNH>McCann or Malkin... Oof, I mean he wasn't bad this year, but that is still a terrible contract, just keep Malkin there, or McCann, there wouldn't be much of a difference and you save 8 mil, ZAR doesn't sign that cheap if he plays the way he did this year anyway, Legare and Poulin will have there ELC's slide I believe, so they'll be on the last year of their ELC, Letang and Marino likely get more, Jarry too unless that's the contract he signs this summer, and I wouldn't give blueger that much

lowered the RNH deal. raised ZAR. raised Jarry. future values are hard to predict. Thanks for pointing out the legare/poulin thing. I think Letang will have to take a discount just like Malkin when their contracts are over. Danault from MTL is another player that's a FA that year and I'd like to see the pens look at if Geno moves to wing. he probably won't want to though, as he even doesn't like his wingers to go to the middle at all but to drive down the wing. See, Galchenyuk, Alex.

I like this a lot. Very good on the Rust, Marino, Geno & Letang signings. Although the assumption is that Geno & Letang’s game will drop off quite a bit so they might even take less. Good deal for McCann too. I love the RNH signing. Would be awesome if we get him. Such a skilled, smart all round player. An elite player for sure.

Nuge’s market value is 9 million according to the Gar-war indicator. He’s a first line player according to the chart. https://twitter.com/jfreshhockey/status/1249352102704566273?s=21

1 yr sample size at the age of what... 26...? Trust me, you can ask Jacky and he'll tell you he's not worth 8+ mil, plus the line thing on his player cards shows what the amount of toi he's been getting equates to, not what's recommended

Plus one more thing, you have to look into what goes into the GAR, ik for a fact he has insanely good PPO GAR, so that will inflate the total, plus I'm pretty sure he's one of the better PKers, so that leaves his EVO and EVD GAR to be below what you'd expect compared to his total GAR

If malkin is here in 2 years, he's probably taking less.
He'll be 36 that season. I know he's a great player but time waits for no one.
The league is slowly removing players that old out of it. I mean how many forwards can you name that are 36 and frankly still productive enough to ask for 7 million.
It will be an interesting case to see what happens when that contract ends. I think it's a year to year deal and much lower cap hit.

I think that's a very probable situation. We can only hope Malkin asks for less cap tho. The only thing I would really change with this is I'd try to keep Murray and get rid of DeSmith. Still gotta love Mur!

yes it would be nice to get Geno/Letang cheaper...I just went off their numbers...
I'd love to keep Murray(providing he plays well)but if he performs, he'll want more than we should give him. if he plays mediocre, what's the point of keeping him then...in a cap era, the Murray situation looks like he won't be here much longer-till Seattle at best.
