I'd consider it, if Ottawa wasn't giving up Connor Brown. He's going to be a really important part of this team, in my opinion. Definitely an interesting idea though!

I felt like another options was:

Subban + Schneider + 1st (ARI 10th) for

Jaros + Nilson + NYI 1st

Haha I'm sure you'd like it from a Sens perspective. Why would the Devils ever surrender a 1st rounder? They'll have more than enough cap space to figure things out, even w/o a compliance buyout. Schneider is a prime candidate for a regular buyout and Subban only has 2 years left.

Ottawa would not give anything back u want to dump cap on them give them a first + and goodbye. When toronto dumped marleau to carolina they got a low pick back thats it and marleau had 1 year left. Schneider has 2 and subban as well. So the payment will need to be bigger.

You get a terrific middle six winger who can play both sides as an RFA. Jaros is also an RFA and is NHL ready. You also get a goalie who would be a servicable backup to Blackwood as he becomes your new #1.

You can then take a big dick swing at UFA.

All in all, I dont think that NJ needs two more years of rebuilding with a big chunk of bad cap

Moving up a handful of spots isn't enough incentive to take on 15mil of cap with term. And we give up a better goalie.

Moving up 5-8 spots, and we get Subban coming back.

Subban drives ticket sales, is off the books before this years draft picks need to be paid, and can help market the team. Hes a great leader for the guys

I don't think anyone is buying tickets to see the broken down version of PK Subban we saw this year, past of all Sens fans. Sens fans still hate Subban for the Stone Slash, and that was five years ago! Doubt you'd get a whole lot of interest from the Habs fans in Gatineau either.

With the way he played, it's pretty tough to spin PK Subban as a positive imo.

As a Devils fan, I can't wait to dump Subban. But, he still has value...just nowhere near $9M AAV. I think he's still a solid 3-4 D on a good team.

They definitely do love CBrown, but if he could net us a top 10 pick they would move him
