That’s not enough for Domi....Vesalainen is a good prospect but he hasn’t shown enough in the AHL to pry Domi from the habs.

Im a Habs fan first and Vesalainen + this year 1st rd pick is a good return for Domi

that's a no from the penguins. They don't have 3 million for Lowry.
All teams will have a hard time moving cap this year. No cap raise. Maybe a CBO but with 14 teams not making or barely making a profit, you won't see as many buyouts as you think.
Even some of the teams who are making a decent profit won't want to cut into it unless they have to.
In 2013 and 2014, 18 teams used their CBO. A lot of which I think directly reflected their profit margins to a large degree.
I think 60% is about what you will get this year too if there is one. Which means teams looking to move a cap dump are going to be hard pressed.

It’s not far off but it’s not what Berge would be looking for. We’re going to draft another high end forward this year, he’s going to (or at least should be) looking for someone who can replace Petry or at least provide some insurance if Juulsens injury keeps reoccurring and wants to leave Fleury in Laval for another year.

The only reason I would see Berge accepting is if the Habs get the third pick in the draft and get Drysdale because otherwise the Habs won't need another forward prospect. I don't really know who the Habs could pick up instead but it would have to be a 1st + prospect.

If we get the 3rd pick and draft Drysdale then I say we keep Domi. Domi is better than Vesalainen and we can just move some other prospects and move some picks in order to get that late 1st round pick.

I just don't know how much Domi will ask for. If he asks for more than 6 mil, I think we try to move him because we have many players to resign in 2 offseasons.

6 x 6 would be ideal...7 million would sting a bit but honestly I love Domi and would love to see him extended.

I just don't know how Domi can ask for anymore than 6 because Point got 6.75 mil. I also haven't really seen the consistency I would like to see before giving Domi over 3 years. I was thinking more around 5.75mil x 3 years

I think you are gonna regret that Hamonic signing - too much for too long for what he brings!

It’s not NHL 20 so you can sign player for what they are worth and shorter terms, that’s reality

Ok, do you think Marc-Edouard Vlasic was worth 7M on 7 years, hell no, but that’s how it’s working in the NHL, players get overpaid on the free market

I admit Domi didn’t have the best season but in his defence the team as a whole laid an egg. Domi (in similar fashion as Drouin) seemed to play like he had to do everything himself and didn’t make simple plays. I’m confident that he will figure it out next season and as the team gets better he will produce like his first season with us. I think now is the right time to negotiate a relatively long deal because if he puts up 70 next year like I think he will then he will ask for 8ish.

I still am not convinced that Berge should give him a long term contract. I would like him to get a 2 or 3 year deal to prove that he is a leader on the team.
