Hear me out!

Florida reportedly wants to cut 10mill in cap for the coming season. This is the best I could really do, considering the circumstances

I think you underpayed a bunch of players. I also think they will trade Matheson. Plus they’ll probably CBO Yandle or Stralman

Yeah, the underpayments are a given, but like it’s really hard to build an NHL roster while not going much over 71mill lol. I don’t understand why they want to do that, because on paper, this team is awful and what’s an underpaid team.

The salary cuts pertained to the original approximation of a 84-86M cap. 10 million off that is 74-76M. They won't be so unreasonable so as to carry the 10M to the likely flat cap scenario.

I can make a Sens roster for next year at 58 mill without trading anybody haha

ownership will probs ask for 7-8 million if the cap stays around the same. Cause in general this team is having some financial issues due to the arena being in the middle of no where and from watching replays they have a lot of empty seats. Still unless they move ekblad (Hoffman and Dadonov) are probably gone as those two are in for big raises.

I think they should rebuild, they have a decent to good prospect pool, they also have a 1C, 1D and 1G so they don’t need major pieces. It would be a quick rebuild. Get rid of everyone over 25 not named Ekblad, Barkov, Huberdeau or Bobrovsky (only cuz there’s nowhere he can go).

I agree, I was saying the same about the sharks earlier. Florida’s only saving grace is to CBO bobrovsky it hope he bounces back. Any time I do a Florida build I always have trouble because of the cap and the amount of players that are UFA

honestly with the financial situation and with the stadium being in the middle of no where I think it soon may be time to consider moving the team or figuring out how to get them a new arena. I just dont see the team being sustainable by 2025. (Just for fun if they move to Houston name them "The Houston Wildcats")

Honestly I’m amazed Florida hasn’t relocated yet. They need a miracle.

I’ve been to that part of Florida many times. There’s nothing wrong with the location, it just has a lot of older people and a lot of the black community that wouldn’t necessarily be into hockey. I think it’s more people than location

Ottawa is the complete opposite. Stadium is 45 minutes out of the actual city in literal no where

Yeah I’ve lived in Ottawa all my life and I have only been to the stadium area like 5 times in my life. It’s like the end of Ottawa and 45 mins from my house. If it was downtown, I’d guarantee a way better attendance

Cutting salary, not cap. Important difference as many of their players are making less than their aav.

For example, Matheson is only making 3.5, so while he may be traded it isn't particularly urgent for them.
I believe Barkov and Huberdeau are also making less

I also seriously doubt that there will be CBO's. Would require a large cap change to happen (like 10 mil less).

The reason they haven't re located and why they won't for some time is because the lease they have in sunrise is crazy good for them. I don't know all the details but basically it is good enough that there is a zero% chance they move before it is up.

Yeah, my dad lives in Ottawa and I am going up this year. I’ve been to two sens games and it felt like forever to get there (I’m coming from Barrhaven) because it’s in Kanata. I agree that if it was downtown it would get more. I mean, it’s always busy, and the Redblacks are a busy team and they’re pretty close to down town

I believe the NHL if debating on it but probs wont happen till 2025. The Panthers main issue last year was supposedly goal-tending and defense, they sign bob to 10mill for 7 years and his stats are horrific (SV 0.900 GAA 3.23) if anything they may have screwed themselves with that contract. They also sign some defenseman who turn out to be horrible when they dont posses the puck which for a team like that is no good.. Sure they got a capable backup in Chris Driedger but I feel its just a case of the team playing their best in front of him due to them knowing its his first year with them. If the team plays in front of him like they do bobrosky his SV and GAA would probs be terrible.

Just for Comparison (last Year)
James Reimer (SV 0.900 GAA 3.09) Final Year 43 games
Roberto Luongo (SV 0.899 GAA 3.12) Final Year 36 games
If anything they should have went for Robin Lehner on a cheaper deal

Where the Redblacks play and where the 67s play is a great location. Where they were about to do it in Lebreton would’ve been a great location in the middle of downtown, it’s actually 2 mins from my work. Melnyk went and ruined that. It’s so far away that the train they built doesn’t even go the stadium. Like how do u expect people go there back and forth and have work the next day. You have to leave your house like at 5 cuz there’s so much traffic going in the direction of the arena, then you won’t get back home till 11:30-12. It doesn’t make sense

Yeah and now look at Reimer. Goaltending isn’t the issue. The issue is the teams defense in front of the goalies

all i got to say to florida is good luck getting rid of yandle, matheson, and stralman cause no team will take them as those guys especially yandle are terrible defensively. Even Ekblad got chewed on by the head coach for the fact he should be playing better for a first round pick defenseman.
