Not a chance Detroit does it if it’s in the top 3.

Do not think it makes any sense for Leafs to trade Marner who is a franchise player when the team is now entering a long window to win a cup with the best young core of players in the entire NHL.

Detroit can only drop to #4OA.

If Detroit is lucky enough to get the 1st pick I'd assume the trade would like the Lindros trade.

Why? There's no guarantee they get the #1 OA and definitely no guarantee any of those three (LaF, Byfield, Stutzle) will be better than Marner. Actually not a horrible trade.

No guarantee but as it stands right now, Lafreniere, Byfield & Stutzle all have a higher ceiling.

Because of Marner's contract, it removes DET's flexibility in terms of cap space. One of the reasons why teams want ELCs is that they perform WAY over the value of their contract. Imagine taking 3 years of Lafreniere that performs at 85% of Marner, but at 975K, and not 10.5mm? You can put your money elsewhere, making a deeper team.

To get DET's pick (1-4), you'd have to throw in sweeteners to take on 10.5mm, even if he's performing at that level. Very hard to perform (or outperform) a 10.5mm contract (is he worth 82% value to McDavid, I'd say no). If Marner was making 6mm, scoring at the same rate, no one would want to trade Marner.
