League wide CBO... EK65 goes on to captain the Seattle Sockeyes. Sharks fans with boners for him are now Seattle Salmons fans. They commence with online debates about how they should've named the team the Krakens or whatever.

CBO... Compliance Buyout, otherwise known as an "Amnesty" buyout. There's talk about the NHL allowing an amnesty buyout this season due to the virus. EK going to Toronto is just a joke. He can go wherever he likes, he'd be a free man. I chose Toronto because it gave me a chance to playfully roast Dubas over his LTIR dependence.

I dunno... You sound like a tough guy. Super tough... the toughest... guy.

I don't hate EK65 at all, in fact, I definitely see the potential for a great many upsides, but I do recognize his contract is horrible. $9Mx8 I can live with, but $11.5M for a dude who hasn't played a full season since 2016 is a bad ROI. Plus, he's not great in the locker room, and yet has an A on his jersey.

We gave up 4 players and a whole 2nd line to make the deal work - 3 out of 4 of those players were a big part of the team culture - so it's no wonder we can't buy a goal this season. Hockey isn't a sport you can built in a laboratory, solely relying on advanced stats and analytics, it's a sport built in the locker room and on the team's willingness to bleed for one another.
