#1 RHD for #1 winger usually doesn't work. Its gotta be a #1 center or else a significant overpay in value that can be flipped for what they need, which might even be worth it. This is not that. Columbus has wingers. They are primarily missing a #1 center

Really? Jones and his one playoff round win in is career, and has just two years left till he's a UFA. I just find all these trades of trading on very good player for another very good player rather redundant. Just don't see how it really helps the Leafs in the next two seasons.

Marner zero in three NHL seasons. Jones one in 7 NHL seasons. No other team would trade so much for two years of Jones. No other fan base would either.

Jones is more valuable than Marner only thing that makes this trade a little more fair is Jones will be UFA in 2 years

No GM in a right frame of mind would trade away a player like Marner who places 5x5, PK and PP and his a player and fan favourite who grew up a Leaf fan , an assistant captain and has been on pace for putting up around 90 - 100 points over the last 1 1/2 seasons. Marner is quite frankly a franchise player for the Leafs and have no clue why you would give him up for Jones who does not even want to play in Toronto and will be a UFA in 2 years.

You right he is actually a generational player in terms of the Leafs as Leafs have not had a player like him for a generation.

i think you are underestimating his value. Marner led the Leafs in points in his second and third year and would have lead the team in points in his first year if fully healthy and probably again in his 4th year if he was not injured. Marner is a team player and winner and will win a Stanley Cup long before McDavid even drinks from the cup.
