Description

On the Braden Holtby signing: I think he needs a challenge. In WSH he is too comfortable I think and it makes him not the Braden Holtby we should expect to see. I mean, he played his best hockey during te 2018 cup run when he had a ton of pressure on his shoulders.

Put Helm, Nemeth, Bernier and Filppula on the market to get picks and/or prospects. For instance I could see Bernier heading to FLA (with retention) if they aren't capable of fixing the backup position during the 2020 offseason

Interesting but Holtby could be an amazing mentor for a young goalie in a few years. DET should even try to get a 2020 1st round pick at around 10th overall to draft Askarov

I've seen that Yzerman has strong interest in Robin Lehner, But if he goes elsewhere i can see Braden Holtby being a 2nd choice. Wouldn't mind Holtby on a cheap short term deal though i doubt he'd take it. Probably in the neighborhood of 5 x 6.5 minimal.

I agree spending a ton on a big name goalie this season would be a mistake. If we could even get a big name goalie to come to Detroit, I keep saying Detroit has to improve to attract UFAs that aren't from here. I say let Bernier play in the second half of the season he has been amazing.
