Nope from CGY, would rather play prospect roulette and restock our depleted farm

Philly has no interest in a 3.4 million undersized 3rd line winger coming off serious injury. They have cap problems too. Most teams this year will be facing challenges with the cap, and because of that no one is going to be able to afford or want 3.5 million, 5 ft 10 inch 3rd line forwards. Best bet to move these type of players is at TDL next year when their cap hit is minimized and someone who is a Stanley cup contender wants to shore up their bottom 6 forwards. Toronto is going to be in the similar situation as last year, they are likely going to lose some assets to become cap compliant without getting much back in return.

I believe to even have a full roster we are going to have to trade someone, that's why I moved him. Pick any of the 3 undersized wingers at 3-4 mill to move

These types of trades are becoming increasingly unlikely. The only teams that would be able to take on these cap hits are teams like ott and njd. Which shows how crazy most teams cap situations are. Also njd and ott are not trading high picks as they are rebuilding. So if the leafs want to trade any of kappanen kerfoot johnsson its going to be essentially a salary dump. This is not ideal as they are seemingly good term value contracts and will show this moving fwd. The leafs only value option isnt the popular one and that is do nothing keep everyone into next season and sign a vet 1 mill dman to plug holes and reassess next season.

Hagg? Like, did johnsson run over every leafs fan on this boards dog or something? This is hilarious.
And dont give me the "gotta save cap" stuff because most, like this one, are hilariously ober paying clifford or another 4th liner

The harsh reality is that right now, Johnsson's trade value is not even worth the 3rd round pick alone, nevermind Hagg. I am sure some fans will say just keep Johnsson then, but without changes, your team is worse off than last year on the defensive end, and you still will still need to dump as least one forward to become cap compliant, even if you fill your empty roster spots with 800,000 contracts.

"Without changes your team is worse of then last year". On paper i would agree losing Barrie definitely makes this defence core worse. However people are quick to forget that the Leafs were one of the most man game injuries this year to very important players. The Leafs are in a great cap position in comparison to alot of teams. What i mean is they essentially have no bad contracts. So if the NHL and PA agree on CBO the Leafs now have a wonderful trade value chip as they havemoney to burn. The Leafs can basically have the same defence they had this year next year and im 100% ok with that. Being healthy is the important thing. Hell look at Pittsburghs defence when the last one the cup. Letang was injured and i think top TOI was Hainsey follwed by Doumolin. My point is patients might still be the best thing for the organization.
