Description
you have to choose drouin or domi and i think domi's a better fit for the habs.

You have cap space and some teams will be in trouble so take advantage of it.

with these signatures you dont affect your prospects and keep space for big contract in 21-22 like tatar, danault, gallagher, petry, armia, kk, poehling

So in 21-22 your core could look like this (i know i could do a 21-22 but this post is about 2020-2021 without affecting 2021-2022)

Domi - Suzuki - Mikheyev
Tatar - KK - Gallagher
Lekhonen - Danault - Caufield
XX - Poehling - Evans

Sergachev - Petry
Romanov - Weber
Chiarot - Fleury
Spair : Scandella, Shea, Martin, Harris

Choosing between Domi and Drouin means giving away the chosen one? What an awful trade fo MTL... You can keep both and trade Tatar as well

How can you be so sure about that. Tell me if im wrong but we're really close of having no playoffs at all, and if we have them I strongly think they will be behind close doors. So the NHL lose big cash here and TV contracts are almost already sign for big markets so they cant ask for more because nobody is allowed in public space so they dont make money here also. This is only for 19-20 but lets say that public health departement say that no gathering up to 100 is allowed in public area until next summer to control or limit this virus, nhl will loose money again. Yeah teams have insurance for a reason but most insurance is not valid for natural disaster which a pandemic is part of so yeah i wish too that the cap wont drop but maybe it will and it will be for economic health of the league and avoid bankruptcy.

First off, there wont be that thing happening where public health department says that no gatherings are gonna happen until next summer. Next season I hope would be normal. NHL has without playoffs revenue of at least 50% of normal season. Id argue more. 70/82 games in regular season were played NORMALLY. Playoffs generate more revenue. Thats why I said 50% of revenue of the whole normal season. Cap should go up by 50% of what it would normally go up by, but likely we would have flat cap as the worst case scenario. Not a drop. League would drop cap only if they would not play whole season or more. Lets say that gathering thing would happen and whole season would be played behind closed doors. TV revenue would still exist and it would be higher than ever because everybody would watch it. Money would be lost regardless because yeah, tickets are better source of finance.. Im not saying they arent. But at no point should there be even a discussion about dropping the cap. At worst, cap stays the same. If there is maybe war happening and there would be worse than this happening for multiple years, then maybe they wouldve dropped the cap..

choose mean you keep him, so you sign him long term cheap because to my eyes domi he more a complete athlete and more competitive than drouin. You could do a better trade for drouin maybe but you are better keeping tatar and domi than domi and drouin. Drouin has value but not that much, never been up the 55 pts and with a average of 0.6 point per game. We loose this trade with tampa but go pick up some great picks and a player on contract for one year who's a good center to keep KK in Laval and devlopp him correctly until he burns AHL.

Since when is $79.5 million from $81.5 million considered a major cap drop? And major cap drop would be like either $74 million or $75 million not $79 .5 million.

With this parity now on in the NHL and a lot of teams barely under the cap of 81.5m with big contracts already signed and an expected cap between 84m to 88m for next year before coronavirus thing, drop it to 79.5m and you put some teams in real trouble. Yeah if you look with the actual cap its not a big drop but compare it with the expected and its a much bigger drop.

The only way a cap drop happens is if players take a salary drop. So the cap drop would essentially mean nothing. The NHLpa would never agree to losing jobs which is what would happen to vet 3rd and 4th liners if the cap went down without salary drop. Not a realistic scenario for the NHL or the NHLPA

The cap of 88m was realistically never going to happen, The NHLPA have pretty much been using a 3% escalator cap that would put it around the reported $84 million they've set now. Even if it went up to $86 million it would be around the 5% escalator and they haven't gone that high yet. The reported 88m would eat into the players escrow and noway that they allow that to happen. The 84m that it's set at now is probably the highest it would've gone period. So 84m-4.5m= your 79.5m that probaly pretty close to being the final number.
