I think Carolina would regret that move. You don’t move a guy that is stabilizing your D and can eat minutes for breakfast, lunch or supper. No way I’m rolling into a season with Skjei, Bean and Gardiner as my left side. Same way Vegas would regret trading Theodore 1 for 1 for an elite forward

Yeah the one thing I find ridiculous is that the cap is so undervalued when people discuss deals, they get too attached to their own players. Like just as an example imagine you can trade Marner straight up for someone like Drysdale. People will be like that’s not enough but when considering a deal, you need to consider the cap. That difference can make u sign a guy like Hall. I always think when making a deal and thinking longterm I’d rather have Pesce + Suzuki + 1st plus a UFA with the cash difference totalling 11 mill than a guy like Marner or Laine making 11+ mill. If this was the NBA, I’ll take the one player but it’s not.
