to say "not 1 reason to do this 1 for 1" is definitely a boost, i can understand not wanting to do it but to act like marner wouldnt benefit the bruins is kinda dumb, theres a massive drop in production from the first line to the 2nd and so on. it may be hard to process but the bruins arent a perfect team although they are in first, value is definitely there in a 1 for 1 trade, ignorant if you think otherwise

The issue isn’t now but when their aging vets decline, they’ll be cap strapped with no room or money to improve at the spots they need.

Bostons defense sucks without McAvoy. not worth it.

#1 D > top 6 winger. The bruins aren't a better team with Marner if they don't have a competent top pairing.

Marner is not a top 6 winger lmao, he’s the number 1 right winger on most teams in the nhl, ppg player who plays pp and pk
All of this is important!
Marner is an eilte winger, definitely not only top 6 (coming from a bruins fan), in saying that, he carrys a massive cap even for how good he is.
Bruins need top 6 wingers (especially a RW), in saying that they dont need Marner (or that type of player), nor are they gonna weaken their defense to do it.
bruins arent a perfect team, this is true, but trading away a future Norris competitor (and thats what McAvoy is looking like right now) for just another good RW isnt gonna cut it, even 1 for 1
and yeah, the cap: leafs suck with the cap, bruins dont. Bruins arent taking on that huge deal overall.
Bruins reject based on value and needs. Perhaps if much more money was retained and the leafs throw in a good defenseman it would be considered, but even then i dont think that would help either team
