It most likely will. Even if the season resumes, the NHL is still losing hundreds of millions of dollars. It’s very optimistic to think that it would even stay the same.

They've played the majority of the season. That's when the owners make their money back. The playoff revenue is a bonus. They will most likely just raise escrow rates a ton of next season to make up for anything lost

The players aren’t going to go for that at all. The playoffs make up a very large portion of revenue. Plus they’ll lose a bunch on TV deals, since I doubt the networks are going to want to pay for games they can’t air.

Why the 2nd pick with Byron for a 5th? Byron is more than serviceable so the Habs would never let Byron walk for that. Maybe if you flip the picks, it could work.

Every pundit is saying that it is not going up and most likely either stays the same or goes down. An amnesty buyout (or two) is what is being thrown around as a life preserver for teams. However, everyone agrees that the losses will be between $300 million - $1 billion. When games do resume, many people will not have the income necessary to spend $70.00 a ticket (minimum) to go. I am not an expert (and neither are you or anyone else on this site). But you're probably right..................

They've played the majority of the regular season where teams make their money back. Playoff games are where most of the ticket sales revenue comes from. I don't think hockey will resume though, I know a few doctors/nurses and they say this is going to get really really bad, really really quickly. I've already had stuff that I'm supposed to be doing in the summer canceled.

Having the hockey season resume would cause a lot of legal troubles and it could affect next season if they were to play into the summer. Contracts expire on july 1st and players dont get paid for the playoffs. I dont think UFA's would risk getting tired or injured playing in games they dont get paid for if they wont have enough recovery time. If they get injured they could also lose out on a ton of money.

The most likely outcome is that they I'll just raise escrow and pretty much write off next season when it comes to the cap inflation
