Smh... everyone complains that TOR doesn't have enough players who can bring some energy to the team... Brown fits that need, it was a mistake to move him

Its tough to give away a 94 point player for futures, and I would think that moving Marner would mean addressing the RHD situation, but the value isn't that far off from what I'd think he should get. I also think if this were to happen, leafs would be picking Drysdale at #5, or flipping the pick for a high end RHD

yeah, i mean, I liked connor brown as a player, but he's not remotely what they need, especially in a trade for a guy like Mitch Marner.

He'd pretty much be a 4th liner when the leafs are fully healthy.

Nope, he's better than Engvall and is in the same ballpark as Mikeyev and Kerfoot

fair enough. I just don't think the leafs need to draft another small scoring forward. I'd rather make a move to get a D with that pick than draft another forward, especially with Robertson coming up in the next 1-2 years

absolutely not he's been really good for Ottawa this year. He's a top 9 lock, could possibly play top 6

If they get B-Docker or Thomson for that matter, their D future is stacked along with Reilly, Sandin and Liljegren...

he wasnt a 3rd line lock last year when the Leafs were shallower on the wings, he wouldnt be a 3rd line lock now that they are deeper unless the leafs are caved in by injuries again. Best case scenario he's a 3rd liner again and why on earth are the leafs trading for another 3rd line winger when they have a bunch of em already?

but do we have time to wait that long for the future with Matthews expiring 4 years after this year? If that d core was ready in 2-3 years, thats not a very big window to not only win but try to convince Matthews to stay. I don't think he will leave, but if he does, this team won't win unless they make some big moves

I don't think the Senators want Marner TBH. They'd want Nylander.

I'd do Marner 1 for 1 for Drysdale on ELC but I don't see him being there at pick 5

and he's much better than he was last year. not saying leafs should or shouldn't trade for him, but he's not getting enough credit here

We might get McDavid with the money if Matthews leaves.

Look... they'd have two opportunities to win the cup... the first one being with Matthews, Tavares, Willy and 2-3 forwards alongside a good d-core and the other without (maybe) Matthews, but with Robertson, SDA, Perfetti (the guy has 111 pts in like 60 games in the WHL at 17 for heaven's sake), Willy, Tavares' prime coming to an end and an AMAZING d-core

might. oilers are starting to find themselves, if they keep it up, he won't be going anywhere. And if Matthews leaves, the same year Nylander is up, then next year is tavares. They won't be sitting around banking on mcdavid coming home.

he got top line mins and an incredibly hot start. Was he good? Sure, but he was regressing like hell offensively as the year went on. It is incredibly unlikly game 1-30 connor brown is anything but a shooting luck spike for an otherwise serviceable middle 6 player

who's to say him playing top line minutes with Matthews and Hyman won't result in the same thing or better? scored 20 as a rookie playing with them

probably because he wont get top 6 mins with Matthews and Hyman, and even if he did his offensive numbers declined despite playing with the sens best players most of the season.

So the Sens could either have a guy that’s making $10 million, or a guy that will be as good or better for when the Senators contend, plus a potential top 4 defenseman. And their owner is Eugene Melnyk. No chance they do that.

Why would the Leafs do that Ottawa trade?

Edit: Or the Vancouver trade for that matter.
