Just making sure that you don't actually think you could get Marner for that pittance.

A top 9 forward, a 1st round prospect and a top 6 pick in this draft isn't enough for 11 mill Marner? It might even be an overpay tbh

2nd round pick on a average aging goalie. I think Wild pass.

God I love this site. IIRC you were the one that thought a 2nd round pick and Kempny was fair for Nylander.
Value wise you have given us virtually nothing interesting here. It is a major underpay.

You wouldn't take 3 years of Drysdale on an ELC for Marner ? Plus you're getting other pieces, lol

Did not realise that was this years 1st you were moving.
But no you'd have to add more. Drysdale being a rhd will go higher than he should in the draft (which is fine but trade wise we would need more real value).

So I might be willing to consider SJ's first, Jaros, Formenton, CBJ 2nd (either year - your choice), and Chlapik.

But even then this doesn't make sense for the Leafs to do

Actually I think he makes many interesting ACGMs and value in his trades are usually spot on.

I actually wasn't one who offered Kempny and a 2nd for Nylander. That actually doesn't make sense as a trade

The trade I offered is better than this. Jaros and Chlapik are most likely depth pieces. Formenton and Thomson are actually pretty close, Thomson was a 1st round pick last year and Formenton was an early 2nd a few years back. Connor Brown is worth more than a 2nd right now

SJS's top 6 pick, Thomson and Brown aren't enough???? If that's the case, what's the fair value of Marner? Lafreniere (assuming either Sens' pick win the 1st overall pick), Islanders' 1st rd pick and Brannstrom????

My only issue would be that if we were to trade Marner, it should address our major need- defence. A top 5 pick is tempting, but the odds of that player being better than a 94 point player is low. The other pieces are virtually a non factor just because quality>quantity. It is definitely close in value, but if Marner is going, a top pairing RHD needs to be coming in.

Ottawa wouldn't make that trade as it is. Marner is overpaid and Melnyk is too cheap to pay that signing bonus.

Probably a no for MN but we do need to figure out our goalie situation. My guess is we'd rather move a 2nd and a little extra for a young guy like Georgiev.

yeah it was an any team deal. Idk what Nilsson's value is but he was pretty solid for us when he played. Probably worth a 2nd or 3rd

leafs lose a really good player but gain 11 mill cap space that u can use at FA, def would be nice and expiring contracts like Reilly, Anderson, Barrie maybe seeing that the cap likely wouldn't go up, dont think any r taking discounts as well seeing past signings but thay gain a top 6 pick in a very deep draft who would have an ELC for 3 years aka Marner comparable player if Dubas does his job right as well as a good right shot d prospect (at the position the leafs lack) who also will have an ELC, pretty helpful for cap strapped contending teams as well as Brown a cheaper immediate replacement for Marner who had 43 points in 71 games player on a lottery pick ott team (leafs pipeline has other options if he doesn't cut it) use the players for trade chips at deadline for a cup chance in u don't feel they fit

i know it's stepping backwards with trading Marner but it really makes sense,

I made that "proposal" because he thought getting Thomson, who has been good in the LIIGA, 2020 top 6 pick and Connor Brown wasn't enough for Mitch Marner and his 11 M contract.

Fun fact about Melnyk: It was also because of Melnyk that Dorion could trade "blue-chip prospect" Cody Pylon Ceci for Taylor Hall. Chiarelli didn't want to wait until Melnyk made a decision so he shipped Hall to NJD. Either this shows how bad Melnyk and Chiarelli are.

I think that would be a steal of a deal for Ottawa but the problem is that Melnyk is too damn cheap.
