Oh, he'll want max term soon. I just don't think that he'll want it THIS year unless he's willing to sacrifice lots of AAV to do so. Remember, the cap is likely to be flat this offseason. This deal would be a bet on him getting max term and max dollars when the cap shoots up again.

He is always injured, he will still want max term, even if he taxes a million or 2 less. Job Security

We will see which side Hall prefers when the time comes. Remember, he's only 28! This COVID-19 situation is quite unique in that the economic fundamentals of our country are still strong, it's just that there was a horrifying public-health crisis that has stopped the world temporarily. When we get back to work and our lives go back to normal, I'm pretty sure that we'll be spending at a rate that helps the cap go up again.

I bet he will take 56 millions for 7 years rather then sign short term and risk to lose 45+ millions in case of a injury.

The strategy that I'm talking about worked out quite well for Marian Hossa. He still got his massive deal after signing a short-term UFA contract beforehand. It's certainly not unprecedented. This COVID-19 situation, OTOH, IS unprecedented. That's the variable that I think that you're missing here. I think that a huge amount of the UFAs aged 26-29 will take 1 or 2 year deals. The 30-pluses, like Pietrangelo, will go long-term regardless.

so u sign him for that and possibly dont win a cup in 2 years was it worth it nope. Hall will want at least a 7-8 year deal and for the money 8.5-10 is where he will be.

No, I think it would be worth it regardless. Hall, if he performs like he does right now, should get his fat max-term deal right afterwards regardless of whether Carolina wins the Cup or not.

Also, understand that Carolina's roster is on the cusp of title contention while the types of team that are willing to offer max term likely won't.

I guess will see but i knew a guy’s who think it was a smart idea last summer to go on a 1 year deal to try to make more money and guess what? Labanc probably lost 1,5 millions avv on long term deal after the season he had. Marian Hossa had made a pretty big Gamble back then and this haven’t been a common thing around the league. Players are looking for long term deal. Stability and security.

There was no coronavirus variable in Labanc's situation, though. It's very possible that the markets need to open back up again before players are able to get those massive contracts that they got beforehand. I could be very wrong, though.

There team that have enough money to sign him, even with the current situation. The league will loose money that a sure thing but with the new television contract that is coming up and Seattle money i don’t think that the cap will decrease that much next season. If next season would become jeopardize now thing would get really messy. But i think that the cap will just stay put.

I do think, though, that if Hall deems that the market is going to be better in a couple of years and decides to bet on himself, that the Avs and the Canes will immediately become the front-runners for him. Both teams have lots of room for him on a short-term basis and title contender-worthy cores, though I think Carolina's is better in terms of depth and Colorado's is better in terms of star power.
