Tampa is very unlikely to lose Sergachev via trade or OS. Shattenkirk is very likely gone, as Tampa would much rather have Serg and Cernak moving ahead than Shattenkirk. I see Tampa's defense next year as Hedman-Rutta, McD-Cernak and Serg-Foote, with Bogosian/Schenn/Gaunce or other comparables as 7/8 guys. If they wanted to keep Shattenkirk over Cernak, could see Hedman-Rutta, McD-Shattenkirk and Serg-Foote, but Cernak is likely to sign a better deal for the team and is far younger. In the event of a 81.5 cap again with a cbo, Tampa trades Killorn and buys out Gourde or TJ and that could be enough, although I could still see Paquette or Coburn moved as well.

Would be nice but realistically very difficult. Rutta was actually playing very well as solid defensive RHD before the injury. I think Tampa could resign him to a 1 or 2 year deal and be pretty solid on the right side.

To be clear I like what Shattenkirk brings offensively but I also believe he's more of a liability defensively than not. While Rutta doesn't bring much to the table offensively, his defense was above average and Tampa does have 2 dmen who can score with Hedman and Serg. I suppose if Rutta isn't in the plans moving ahead and they can find the extra 1 to 1.5 million by moving someone or shaving it somewhere else, then maybe Hedman-Shattenkirk, McD-Foote and Serg-Cernak could work. However, McD-Cernak has been a great shutdown pair and not sure if Foote would be ready for top 4 minutes right off the bat.
