Yep Barzel would be the second highest paid player in the NHL making more than Tavares, Panarin, Ovechkin, Matthews, etc. Islanders would not have much room to do things after that signing

Union fights for no compliance buyout.

And if their is one the Islanders also get one.

The also get to trade their higher contract, worse players ( Drouin ) for one year of a better player.

The Rangers are one team that doesn't need Mete.

Calgary has 4 UFA DMEN. They aren't trading one that is signed...

well I guess you have never heard of Andersson or Valmiaki. Or have never heard of resigning because I have heard they have a lot of cap space.

They have less cap room and fewer players signed than Montreal.

Sure I've heard of Valimaki. Read all about his ACL surgery.

You know that Eric Staal is 35 and Drouin is not yet 25 and sign 3 more year on a reasonable salary?

For the rest you did a decent job

You could get more for Drouin but I think Staal would bring a good experience for being in the playoffs. Being a leader for your young guys

This is not the type of players that bergevin is looking for. If he want experience Carl Soderberg could be a good option and will cost no actual assets. Probably a 2 years deal would be enough. As for Staal he wouldn’t fit very well in Montreal since he never was a great skater and getting slower each year.

It all depends upon whether they can put Andrew Ladd on permanent LTIR. He and the presumed buyout of Leo Komarov give the Islanders $8.5 million of that $12 million, and then New York would have 17 players signed and roughly $6.5 million under a $81.5 million cap. That's easy.

He's been in and out of the lineup the entire year. He's close to the same position as Bryan Little is in.

Wild pass. They have no need for another LHS wing. They dumped Zucker for futures because they have so many earlier this year.

Drouin is not a top center. He played there for like a season and wasn't very good at it. He's a winger.
