Yes it IS a loss for the Islanders. Maybe you should pay more attention to the importance of players like Pelech and Pulock. The team has been an absolute defensive nightmare since Pelech went down. It'd be even worse without Pulock. There are other trades the Islanders can pursue to improve WITHOUT touching Pelech, Pulock, Dobson, or even Wahlstrom. Ffs, do some more research!

man its not like the leafs are giving up spare change for him. I hesitate to give Nylander up for him to be honest, but am willing too look past that to get a very good player that addresses our primary need. Isles fans should do the same thing. You couldn't get someone close to nylander's calibre without touching those guys unless you moved barzal, which would be insane

Laine is one of the laziest players when he doesn't have the puck. Your team needs more in D. CH is literally carrying the team who's bottom 4 defense now is made up of old coffee cups and lids.

    Wow, more misguided views.. Lol

You obviously don't watch the Jets much, Laine is so not lazy away from the puck, the Jets laziest forward away from the puck is their 1C, it's pretty bad watching Scheifele's lack of commitment to play defensively in the defensive zone.

Yeah they're defense isn't great but you're changing the discussion from the original point and really the Jets defense wasn't as bad as its been made out to be this season, their lack of bottom 6 scoring was their biggest problem.

But you fail to see the ultimate point here. The Islanders do NOT have a D surplus. The Leafs DO have an offensive surplus. Maybe you can fetch Dumba, but you're NOT getting Pulock. Dream on!

Here are the obstacles that EDM has to overcome
    Extending Bear
    Kassian's extension kicks in
    Nurse's extension kicks in
Need a backup to replace Smith
They're going to extend AA given all they gave up to get him. Holland was GM of DET when AA was drafted.

Also, don't think it'd be smart monetary management for EDM to have 3 players making up to potentially 29 mil AAV. Islanders can take full advantage of that.

When RNH's current deal expires they also have Russell and Larsson expiring which is $8M to work with and Bear and Athanasiou aren't going to be getting massive raises anyway, I'm sure they'll figure out a way to keep RNH.

I think the Islanders would have way more difficulty to get RNH with all the dead weight contracts they have and the big money they'll have to hand out in between RNH becoming available.
